Church goer seeking varied faq on things that perplex.

Q: I've been on and off with the church my whole life. I wasn't raised Christian really, my parents never went to church or talked about God. I did go to youth group by entire high school and church camp and believed.  Life things happened that made me go a different route. I'm originally from Nor Cal, so more liberal ways and views. I've always considered myself hippie at heart. I move to KY 2.5 years ago and within a few months we found a church and have been going every Sunday. I read my Bible among other readings so help me develop my relationship with God and to just learn.  But feel comfused and with more questions. It's like every Sunday my critical thinking brain is on. I have always believed in the concept that something greater than ourselves created us. That there is a divine force, an energy, that's beyond our conception. I believe that energy is real, that spirits, angels and more are all real. I have a hard time believing in the details that religi...

Church going family is into new age crystals

Q: I'm really bothered that my family doesn't get me. Because even though they say they are Christian, my brother and family will not even say the word God. They don't want to talk about Him or anything. My mom believes in God and goes to church but her church encourages New Age things too. Anyways, my brother and family bought me crystals to hang in the window. Some people I guess buy them because they reflect the sun and are pretty to look at. But I had a season - before I really knew Christ - that I had crystals for New Age reasons. I don't want the crystals - I don't even want them in the closet of my home. But they may come to visit and expect those crystals to be in the windows. What do I do? I don't want to hurt their feelings. I thought maybe just having them in the closet and hanging them up in the windows while they're there would be fine. But I really feel like I need to completely get rid of them. A: It is a great opp fir witnessjng & speakin...

Should Christians use Self Help books?

What are your thoughts on self help books or even like scientific based resources for better quality of life? I’ve always struggled with depression since I was a child and I would use these resources and methods to help which they sorta did, but ultimately it wasn’t until I truly accepted Jesus in my life that I’ve felt almost completely rid of depression overall. I still face some mental struggles due to trauma and just life overall and still seek Jesus first but I have been wanting to also combine both resources and my faith to combat my struggles, but is this right, am I putting my faith in something else over Jesus?  My thought process about this is Jesus will always provide for us. But did he give us access to these resources to be used, alongside his Word, or is it deception?  While I have 100% faith Jesus can heal me and release me from depression, I also just can’t sit around doing nothing and then expect to be healed. I would also compare this to being physcially sic...

Alter Call?

Q: I grew up attending a Pentecostal church, but am going to a biblical Christian church now. However,...I dont understand something.  This church never asks if anyone would like to be saved during the end of service. Is that normal for Christian churches to not ask if anyone wants to give their life to Christ during service?? If the pastor doesn’t ask, I feel some people would never know that they need to be saved. Am I way off here?!! A: Everyone knows they're living in opposition to God; their sin nature desires to rebel. They don't want to go to God because they'd have to give up sin. However believers are to fully and properly share the Gospel so people can come to salvation.  With that said, church is supposed to be for the Redeemed Ones. So, we are as Scripture declares and reveals the process: to go into the world, proclaim the Gospel, and of those who get saved we then bring them to church to join and be discipled. However there are Christians in church who have ...

Spiritual warfare re Mental/Physical health? *

Q: Someone said this, is it true?: "Many Christians do not believe in demons and the spiritual warfare that we go through as Christian’s. Yes mental illness is very real but only Jesus can CURE. Medicine helps, science helps but only Jesus can truly set you free. You can make it to heaven with a mental illness so it’s not a matter of hell or heaven but the Bible does say that He came so that we may have life. Instead of getting defensive about mental health issues, just take time to realize that Jesus wants you to enjoy your life, He wants you to have joy and peace. If the Bible says that nothing is impossible for Him then why do we feel that mental illness is too hard for Him. Ask God to "deliver you" from any mental illness that the doctors want to diagnose you with. That doesn’t mean you can’t vent or seek counseling but it also doesn’t mean that you just rely on science and pills to somewhat make you feel better. The spiritual world is very real." A: NO.  We are...

How should Muslim women converts to Christianity look

What about Muslim women in the West? A. Should Muslim women wear head or body coverings?  No. They are to assimilate into the culture of the Christianized nation they're in. The western Laws need to now, (since globalization and them moving to the west), be that our culture doesn't show submission and modesty by covering up. They are to follow our ways here. France passed a no covering law, the other western nations need to too. It's not religious issue it's a culture issue, the two need to be separated.  B. If a Muslim woman becomes Christian, should she stop wearing a covering? Yes, absolutely. Now, Christians in general do not go to myslim nations because theyre anti Christian and force coverings in us, to be under islamic culture. As noted above, however, if she is was born in /from that nation and goes to a Muslim nation (such as visiting home) she can and should civer in that nation due to thrur culture so they can show they submit to their husband and or are mo...

Conquering Depression and Anxiety

Depression I need advice about depression. My fiance has struggled with depression since before we were together and I thought it was getting better but he admitted to me that he's been feeling depressed recently. Any advice on how I can help him cope? Any prayers for his healing, and for me to be able to find a way to help him would be greatly appreciated ♥.  I've struggled with depression and anxiety for a long time but I somehow feel like his experience is different from mine. I know he's been really stressed lately. Please pray for us to get through this  I Hope this can help . If he's not saved he needs to take care of that first. When we are restored by God to who we are to be, via Christ, we can rejoice in any circumstances bcuz God is with us, guides us, and has a purpose and plan for us. We rest knowing he works out all things. Thus we don't need to stress over our expectations, we lay it all down on/to him and he directs our path. His plan will be accompl...

When leaders fall; how can we trust anyone

Q: I have been watching a guy online for a few years, a messianic Jew, who has a ministry many books published, has a podcast and a good sized following.  There was a detailed report that just came out that 20 years ago he had an inappropriate relationship, detailed in the info. It was shocking, and it really bothers me. Thst stuff destroys many peoples lives & faith, including their lives. I had so much respect for this man and now feel like there's no one we can trust.  A: This is going to be a help and an admonishment in love and to protect you.... You dont know the truth of anything about these Randoms online, as you just found out. After scandal, many go away a few years, rebrand and come back. Which is in opposition to Scripture. He was disqualified from teaching/preaching 20 years ago. Thus he has no one holding him accountable. Messianic Jews even as pastors or teachers need to be under a church leadership. Just as the rest of the church. If they fly solo without ...

How do Pastors & the church handle Muslims married to multiple wives once they get saved?

Q: Recent Statistics say 30k muslims come to Christ annually in USA, which is great. But, How are we to think and counsel the men (or married women) who have multiple wives in Arab /other countries who now reside here, or move them here? The believer may have green card or are becoming citizen, or are a citizen. It's not biblical to have more than one wife, and we dont condone polygamy here, nor would we accept that from a biblical stand point of God's design. How do we address this with the Muslim?  A: I would not be surprised as most Muslims who come to America are college age or young adults and are already unsatisfied with Islam.  Not an important point, but most Muslims men do not have 10 wives, most have 3-5. A a Missionary with Muslim People Groups for several years noted this is a complicated question. As far as becoming US Citizens, no need to stop them, especially if they have converted to Christianity. Most still bring their wives, if they have multiple, and help l...

Should we let unbeliever family in our lives or our children's lives if they mistreat us?

Should we let unbeliever family in our lives or our children's lives if they mistreat us?  If they hurt or mistreat us should they be an active part of our lives, or our children’s? I think I am ok doing family events, but outside of that I struggle with knowing if I should continue to have my kids have a close relationship with a person (who is also an unbeliever). The kids are very impressionable at this point.  A: We are called to be the light reflecting Christ around us. We have to forgive. Show him brotherly love in how you are when around him. Unsaved people hate truth and God so they'll be negative.  So yes... to a limited degree as discretion and prayer is used.  See the other links here to help guide on that.  Book  to help with understanding how to be around unsaved people in this world Unbelievers are not repentant and changing people thru the transformation of Christ and sanctification. We need to be cautious, but also a light. If you have conc...

I have Cancer, what now?

Image
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis but also excited to see how God uses you and grows you during this time. Remember Jesus is always with us, and will lead us through it to the end of it. Cling close to Him.  I also have cancer 🫂. A rare incurable blood cancer with lots of uncertainty, possibility for mutation, lots of pain and problems from it and much more. It is unfortunate but like everyone else, we livevin a Fallen world and tomorrow isn't guaranteed for anyone. Yes it would be hard to go through what's left of life, and whatever quality of life is going to be there, in such pain situations and medical stuff to deal with.  But God never makes mistakes in His plan for our lives. He is using you, believer, 1. To grow your faith and sanctification right now. Here are some ways to do that via resources. And 2. To use you to reach people for Christ, to shine Christ towards everyone you meet from the hospital folk to the hospital visitors, to family, friends and stranger...

What does the Bible say about Fasting?

Image
Today many talk of Fasting, but what is it, what's it for and what to consider?  What do we need to know  ? Further examination  For believers following unbiblical fads and studies on fasting teachings or books either individually, in small group or something a church tries to get you to do, be aware that it's detrimental to your health to do it wrongly.  Related What is the Gospel Resources for Believers

Should believers judge believers?

Image
Q: We ALL do things that are against God. No one is perfect on this earth. Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. No one lives a perfect life style SO YOU SHOULD STOP trying to condemn others with your opinions on how things should be; you are not perfect yourself either. A: You are incorrect in how youre saying that, which examining your opinion is pointing a judgment too. What we say isn't opinion, it's the authoritative Word of God that guides us and tells us to counsel, correct, rebuke & help you. Scripture calls us believers to righteously judge one another. The purpose is to correct & call us to holy living. We are to do so while growing ourselves. It has three purposes, remind us and help them, and keep the church pure.  Matt. 7: 5 ...first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Romans 16:17-18  I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions a...

Should we attend our old church if they embraced the sex cult?

Q: I am new in the faith, I grew up in a “I’ll believe it when I see it” household.  When I had my son my total outlook on life completely changed and my mind changed to being that there just couldn’t not be a God. I started reading the Bible and praying everyday as if made me feel so light inside.  Well I decided recently to get baptized and my son will too. My husband and I chose the church he got baptized in (which is 2 hours from where we live). He hasn’t been to that church for about 8 years since he moved from the area, but the church itself has a lot of memories within his family and that’s why we chose it.  We went back there this past Sunday, abd noticed a pride flag flying and a couple more inside the church. My husband and I were talking about it asked if they do that to be inclusive to all people, so they can hear about God.  We later talked about it some more. I found out that it’s not so much that they are being inclusive but they are encouraging it. W...

Still sin and feel like a hypocrite, am I even saved?

Q: Jesus said "come as you are"...but how does that work?  I smoke, cuss etc, so how am I supposed to come to him? Do I just pray for these things to go away there’s no way I can give up smoking on my own I’ve tried and I always go back to it . Everytime I ask Jesus in my life, I treat it as a check list... that I have to stop all these things,... but I always go back to them 😞.  I don’t want to do that this time I want to go to him as I am not something I’m not, im broken, but I feel like a hypocrite. A: Jesus calls sinners to come to him to be transformed and made new.  We come as we are and God changes us. By God's transforming power of the Gospel, God converts us and sends us the indwelling Holy Spirit, along with the Bible... to guide us.  When we come to Him we put an end to ourselves, and he becomes Lord over our lives. In effect, we died and rose to new life in Christ [and that's what "believers water baptism" symbolizes btw; it shows outwardly wh...

Dealing with Santa issues as a Christian

Image
Q: After I started following Jesus Christ I told my son 7 years old that Santa and Elf is not real. I told him what Christmas is all about and still give loves, gifts and be thankful to Jesus. I hate I lied my son about it. Christmas should be taught to him about Jesus, & ashamed it takes glory away from our Lord. My son is very excited about Christmas and he loves it as much I do.  I had told my son not to tell others kids and he told my nephew about it. I think the nephew is upset (base on my mother tone) that he shared the truth.  I’d pray to Lord repentung of everything I’ve done. Nut, I felt horrible and my family is really upset at me. Any godly counsel and words?  A: Truth is truth. We adults need to speak truth. We are called to. God hates liars . Also, Jesus said he came to bring a sword. That members of our own family will hate us (and some may turn us over for persecution and death). So if they persecuted you by their negativity so be it. Still be loving ...

What Christians need to understand about Yoga

Christians must avoid it. There's much to say in thus, but this site answers it well. Got Questions.org  Do not go to places dedicated to those exercizes. Can you exercize at home to do stretches (without name labels and without yoga sounds and noises), yes along with other types of exercizes.
