Should we attend our old church if they embraced the sex cult?
Q: I am new in the faith, I grew up in a “I’ll believe it when I see it” household.
When I had my son my total outlook on life completely changed and my mind changed to being that there just couldn’t not be a God. I started reading the Bible and praying everyday as if made me feel so light inside.
Well I decided recently to get baptized and my son will too. My husband and I chose the church he got baptized in (which is 2 hours from where we live). He hasn’t been to that church for about 8 years since he moved from the area, but the church itself has a lot of memories within his family and that’s why we chose it.
We went back there this past Sunday, abd noticed a pride flag flying and a couple more inside the church. My husband and I were talking about it asked if they do that to be inclusive to all people, so they can hear about God.
We later talked about it some more. I found out that it’s not so much that they are being inclusive but they are encouraging it. We understand that it’s a sin but we all sin, and that’s not worse than my sin you know. But we just don’t know how to feel about a church encouraging sin.
I’m just wondering if we should go ahead with the baptism, because maybe we are just thinking too much into it. Or if we shouldn’t do it there?
Since coming to faith I take everything about God seriously. God has changed me so much and I really don't want to do this or go there if it wouldnt be approved by God. Any advice or clarity on this situation will be very helpful.
A: We are to love unsaved people (out in the world in town). We are not to bring unsaved people in the church or market to thr unsaved in ways to encourage those living in sexual sin to come in, as if we accept their sins. That church caved to culture and is condoning and encouraging them living in sin.
Church is to be a holy place for the redeemed. Church is heaven on earth for believers. If stragglers occassionally come in; to get saved thats one thing, but those following that particular sin are thinking and being told they can live that way and be Christian. That is not the truth. No true church of Christ would be doing what they're doing. Avoid.
Find a Bible focused church where holy living is shepherded. We cannot join churches that are teaching doctrines of demons.
