Working resources
This only focuses on Remote Customer Service type jobs, but can be a basic help in the right direction to guide single moms, who need a bit of a initial jump into job searching, esp in small towns.
There are plenty of companies that do ai based (garbage) interviews that weed you out, and collect "data" on you too (😤) at the same time. Try to focus on ones that don't use ai, & can do phone or video interviews. Not require you to travel to them either. Local ones could be safe to do so, but still take precautions. [Many job offers can be scams or trafficking abductions so be very smart and use common sense].
Here's some guides....
✅ Legit Placement / Staffing Agencies
Here are agencies you can send people to, that specialize in customer service / remote staffing:
• Insight Global – They offer contract, contract-to-perm and direct placement for in-person, hybrid or remote roles.
• PrideStaff – Focused on call-center & customer service staffing, temp/perm roles.
• Sparks Group – Expertise in customer-service staffing (including contract, contract-to-hire).
• 4 Corner Resources – They highlight themselves as call centre / customer-service recruiting specialists.
• Randstad USA – Large staffing firm that covers remote roles among many other types.
• Thrivas – A remote-staffing agency that explicitly connects remote workers and remote roles.
These are good starting-points. You can have someone work with one or more of these agencies while doing direct company searches.
🏢 Sample Companies Hiring Remote Customer Service / Support Roles
Heres some companies known to hire remote customer service / support roles in the U.S., which you can build from. Many more exist.
• Afni – Remote customer service/conversation support.
• CPM International – Outsourcing/brand-experience agency, remote roles.
• Capital One – Has “work from home” remote roles including customer service / operations.
• TTEC – Explicit remote “work from home customer service” opportunities.
• Foundever – (formerly Sitel) listing customer service jobs in the U.S., remote.
• Conduent – Example job posting: Remote Customer Service Representative.
It’s difficult to say for sure whether all of the companies here hire entirely online or whether none of them use any form of AI in their interviews — the landscape is evolving rapidly.
Heres two specific companies as examples, plus the caution you should apply when trying to assess other companies.
✅ What I found
• Capital One:
• They clearly state that interviews are done virtually (video/online) for many roles.
• They also use online assessments/tests as part of the process (e.g., for communication, customer-focus, etc) for hourly/call-center or support roles.
• Therefore: Yes — they do hire online (remote/virtual).
• But do they not use AI? It’s not guaranteed. The use of an online assessment or “on-demand interview” doesn not automatically imply full AI interview, but they do use automated assessments. For example, they mention “on-demand interview” (which could be recorded and later reviewed). So, you cannot assume no AI or no automation.
• TTEC (formerly TeleTech):
• Their careers site for remote/hire-from-home roles shows the process: apply online, complete assessment, schedule a virtual interview.
• They also publish a blog post about “5 Tips for Avoiding Work-from-Home Scams” and clearly state they will interview you before an offer letter and will not ask you to pay or purchase equipment.
• They also have a post showing that they use a conversational AI-powered bot (“Louie”) in the candidate/employee experience (recruiting/onboarding).
• So: yes, they hire online/remote. But they do use AI (at least in recruiting/onboarding) — which suggests that automation or AI-tools might be part of their process.
• Foundever (formerly Sitel):
• Their FAQ states they require an online assessment for many roles.
• They also partnered with an AI-powered assessment platform (Maki) to evaluate candidates.
• So: yes, online hiring; but also yes, they use AI/automated assessments.
⚠️ What this means (and how to apply to other companies)
• Online hiring: It is very likely for the many large companies in remote customer service/support work that they allow remote applications and online interviews (video calls, assessments) — as the examples above show.
• Using AI / automation: Many companies increasingly incorporate automation, digital assessments, recorded “on-demand” interview steps, and/or AI tools (for screening, scheduling, chatbots) in their recruiting process. Even if a company says “virtual interview”, it doesn’t guarantee that the entire process is human-only. Sometimes the interview is human but assessments are automated.
• If you want to know which companies do not use AI/automation or use humans only, you’ll likely need to check job postings or careers pages of each company, looking for wording such as:
• “Live interview only” or “you’ll speak with a live interviewer”
• “No automated video interview”
• Or ask the recruiter directly: “Is this an on-demand/recorded video interview or will I be talking with a live person?”
I cannot guarantee for each one whether they are human-only interview or not. You’d need to check individually. Most of these companies conduct online hiring (applications and interviews virtually).
⚠️ However, many use automated assessments or partial AI tools (like pre-recorded interviews or chatbots). If your goal is to focus on companies that mostly rely on human interviews, note the ones that tend to rely less on automation, based on public info and candidate feedback.

🔍 Notes & Next Steps
• For each company, check the job posting or careers page to verify:
• It is fully remote (work from home) for U.S. applicants.
• The interview process (does the job posting mention an on-demand recorded video interview, AI assessment, or “live interview”?).
• If avoiding companies that use AI/automated screenings is important: you’ll likely need to ask the recruiter or check candidate reviews (e.g., on Glassdoor) for how the interview process works.
●You can always ask gptchat if some of these jobs are legit, seem like ghost jobs (same listing constantly popping up).
○Many companies try to see what the pool of great candidates are, out there, for company reorganizing, letting go, getting fresh folk and looking at the est cost to pay those folk would be. It isnt always for legit hiring anymore, and some are legally required to post the job when they plan to fill that role w someone internally. So be aware of this. Try to use all contacts you have to put out job feelers, and let folk know youre looking for a job.
●Some companies have unions snd some job stability, others dont. You can add to your resume tho which is good. So even if its a contract timeframe, or you're going to hit 2 years in... start job searching already in case they want to replace you, you arent shocked nor devastated and go homeless. Move on when a good opp arises with higher pay. You have to be you focused in a cut throat business world, [and start building up a simple side gig to have incoming money; not all in one basket].
