My husband's growing faith makes me want to leave Christianity
Q: My husband is making me want to veer away from God tbh... he is much more a believer than I am. But how aggressive he is with religion makes me never want to talk about it. He says, gays are an abomination, Jesus is coming back soon and we need to get right with God NOW or we're all going to be left on Earth. He says neither of us are anywhere close to worthy.
He wasn't like this before but it's getting so bad.. The worst thing is he constantly says I don't believe (for whatever reason). He's turning into the people that made me not want to be in church anymore. I don't even know how to go about telling him HE is the reason I'm straying from God (worse since he was the reason I started getting back into religion) because of his attitude. He says we need to follow EVERYTHING in the Bible but then when I bring up the fact that means we shouldnt have tattoos (we do), wear wool, gossip, etc & he says I'm picking things to poke on.
One thing that is bringing me closer personally is watching Mediums and how they describe their loved ones on the other side. That they actually get facts correct, the personalities, etc. That there are people who were drug addicts that sadly died from their addiction suicide victims, people that obviously weren't perfect on the otherside. That helps me so much because I feel so unworthy.
He even brought up the fact that the Bible says that people who aren't on the same 'wave length' of religion aren't going to work out. I can tell he genuinely wants to "save me" and it's good intentions but.. I am so upset..
A: If your husband is Christian, hes not in religion. Religion is defined as outside Christianity. Its void of truth and God.
[Said kindly and in love]: Other people are not why we stray from God. We do that ourselves... cuz we love sin & are just looking for excuses. Our salvation and faith aren't based on others, but in God and Jesus our Savior. Your following Him, not people. People are flawed, and imperfect. They'll always make mistakes in how they handle something, even with good intentions.
Your husband is your spiritual leader. It sounds like hes growing, and thats good. Hes probably studied more cuz he loves God and wants to know more. He might be a little wonky in some areas and will later grow to understand them better, but also what he knows is what hes trying to explain. Truths in Scripture by topic can be hard to articulate for many. So show him grace and patience. At least hes having those convos and living out the faith as best he can, and leading you. Many spouses fail to do that. You're blessed!
Light and darkness clash. False idolatrous beliefs & truth clash. Hes right there. If hes speaking truth in love, if hes speaking biblical truths, then if your Christian *you believe & follow it*, cuz its Truth from God. You believe it regardless what your flesh is telling you. You'll grow at a diff rate then him, but at least hes imparting things hes learned, and is encouraging you in holy living, and living it out. That's a good thing!
Teachings in Scripture need time to study to learn/expound on for full understandings. Iron sharpens iron so as believers, you can learn together and talk about these things joyfully. And look into them deeper in areas you need clarity. 🙂
When it comes to "obeying & following" what that means is we are to pursue holiness, growing in it, by the truth God revealed. This holiness is related to the attributes of God. For us that's limited to the communicable attributes, also revealed in the Fruit of the Spirit. It has 0 to do with varied national laws God gave Israel. And 0 to do with religious stuff [outward stuff that's void]. False religions do those things, not Christians.
Heres some resources to help.
Sin in all forms is serious because it is an assault on God, and condemns humans to death & judgment. If without Christ. We are called to love God and others, so its not loving to lie, embrace a lie, nor cause others to sin, nor sin against them. We are called to be like Christ, as we pursue holiness. If saved, we have the righteous nature, have been transformed by God into a new creation. We desire to know the Scriptures, and thus know God and live out that restored life.
If youre not sure your saved, you can check here (and get that resolved), so you can submit to God and your husband.
None of us are worthy. That's what makes God's offer Grace. All are undeserving of salvation, all deserve only Hell, but by God's Grace and mercy he offered to reconcile us to himself through Jesus, by the Gospel, to redeem and restore us. This blesses us and give us eternal life. He showed us what real love is, and Christ as our example for holy thinking & living.
Trust in Him & in Him, and dont lean on your own thoughts, ways or heart.
Once saved, God will teach and guide you [through Scripture, church, your husband, the believers at church]. Just take it one day at a time. 🙂
Yes, the Gospel is urgent. 160k die daily, 54 million per year, if they die in their sins theyre Hellbound for eternity. This is an urgent task God has commissioned believers to carry out. It's the main reason he left us here.

On lgbt matters:
When truth is spoken in love, it reflects God's character. It reflects real love.
“Truth Without Love Has No Décency; It’s Just Brutality. On The Other Hand, Love Without Truth Has No Character; It’s Just Hypocrisy.” – John MacArthur
About The God Who Loves (book)
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Ephesians 4:32
"Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
John 13:34-35
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another."
Romans 13:10
"Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
Colossians 3:12-14
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
1 Peter 3:15
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."
Colossians 3:12
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
1 Thessalonians 5:14
"And we urge you, brethren warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone."
On Tattoo matters:
There are things to consider here. Just like Piercings, and other issues of false identity and of modesty.
As to Mediums and related things:
We dont engage in, pursue, believe, nor have interest in them. God calls these an abomination. They go against what's right, are deceptive & demonic. God has told us all we need to know for life and faith and eternity, and are not to go beyond the truth he has revealed in Scripture. So I have to admonish you here and point you to put those things away from you, its deceptive & demonic. Repent, & recieve the truth revealed in Scripture. After death is only punishment for the unsaved in Hell where God's wrath never extinguishers, or Eternity with Christ in the blessed sin free place [Heaven, then the New Earth & Heaven].
Those who claim to know God & Christ as Savior but don't live it out, and choose idolatry, are not saved. Don't be like those who dont heed the truth.
2 Thessalonians 1:8-9
"He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might."
Matthew 7:21-23
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"
Take this matter seriously.
Mark 9:43-48 [on getting rid of sin]:
"If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.'"
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."
Revelation 21:8
"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur."
John 3:16-21
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
If your not right with God, get this settled today. Don't reject it, cuz Jesus is your only hope in life and death. Don't delay in arrogance & ignorance either, cuz tomorrow isnt guaranteed, nor your next breathe.
2 Peter 3:9
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting people to perish, but to come to repentance."
God bless
