If financially unable, is it ok to ask a believer in business for some help?

Q: My friend is a Christian hairdresser. Do you think its rude if I ask if she can give me a discount or do a split payment (2 in one payment)? I don't work at the moment & am financially strapped 🥲.

If she knows your situation, and its a need (not like braids or something unnecessary) she might help. Either ask if she can teach you how to do something simple with your hair at home, instead. And maybe ask "if she would ever consider helping someone out that she knows who is in need for hair help whose got financial issues".

If she says "hon if its your need I would glad to help this time" or "yes", and kindly ask if shes able to help you. Note Youre willing for either for discount, payments, free or deferred payment. If you're both Christian & friends, she might help you out this time. Its something God can bless her for if she does. You might also bless her by offering after photos to promote her business locally in social media if she does offer it free.

Verses to remember

Matthew 6:19-21 instructs, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Acts 4:34-35, which describes the early Christian community: "Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need." This passage highlights the generosity and unity of the early believers, who were willing to sell their possessions to ensure that no one in their community was in need.

Matthew 7:11, where Jesus says, "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" This reminds us also that if we ask for a gift or something good among us, we should bless each other as we can.

Matthew 5:42, where Jesus teaches, "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away."

Deuteronomy 15:7-11, "If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs."

Luke 6:34-35, where Jesus teaches, "And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back....lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High."

Acts 20:35 refers to a saying of Jesus: "It is more blessed to give than to receive.". This teaching aligns with the overall message of Jesus' ministry, which emphasized generosity, selflessness, and caring for others. It encourages believers to adopt a giving heart, reflecting the love and generosity of Christ.

Since her business or job likely has expenses to her booth rent, utilities etc, its best to offer to meet her after hours at her home if it helps, or see if the business helps out the less fortunate by charity. If it is a Christian business they might do this. Even some dentists I know do.

You could bless her and others back, later on, by donating to her or the company, to help out others in that situation.

We believers likewise can seek help among the church (noted above) for needs, and is why the decon fund exists anc is collected, (beyond helping widows and orphan help). But thats probably going to have policy, boundaries and proofs needed today to ensure folk aren't scamming the church, and is limited to actual active members. They'll look iver their Financials to see if they've squandered their money, wasted it on useless things snd aren't being good stewardship of the money God gave the person )whose claiming they're in financial need).

I hope your friend can help you. And keep trusting God to provide your needs.

God bless
