Does God hates women, cuz they have periods?
Q: Some women in my life say that God hates women because he gave them periods, it makes me sad that they get mad at God for this, any advice? Anything holy or biblical reference for women having periods?
A: No. It is part of God's reproductive design for women. Its essential for her body's health and proper working. It is a good thing.
I can understand why that would make you sad — it’s hard when people see something painful in life and feel like it means God doesn’t care. The truth is, the Bible never says that God “hates women” because of their periods. In fact, Scripture consistently shows that women are deeply valued and loved by Him.
Periods are part of living in a fallen world where our bodies aren’t perfect and pain is real (Genesis 3:16 touches on how brokenness entered creation). But they’re not a punishment or a sign of God’s dislike, though there was a consequence of sin entering (no longer perfect snd pain free). If anything, women are tied to the incredible gift God gave women — the ability to bring forth life.
Psalm 139:14 reminds us: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” That includes every part of how God designed us. Even when our bodies feel like a burden, His heart toward women is full of love, dignity, and purpose.
Women were even the vessel God used to bring the Savior; Jesus was born of a woman. Children are a fruit of the womb and sex is a gift from God to married people. While folk misuse their bodies, the result is always the same; Gid creates humans in the womb. People He has a plan and purpose for here, even in spite of our sins and failures (when unmarried).
If your friends are struggling with this, maybe the best thing is just to remind her that God understands her pain, and wants to show her these and other truths shes missing here. Sin, fall, curses, consequences, and the good that comes out of it. And the convo itself... is a great springboard into the Gospel! Minister to her and call her to salvation in Christ. The eternal gift and blessing God offers us. It also causes her to be born again. Touching on this topics theme.
