UK /AU seeking to know of Christianity
Q: I live in Australia, a country which isn’t very religious and its culture towards religion is so varied. My grandparents were religious and I went to church with them on weekends sometimes as a little kid. I have not been for probably 20 years. I have prayed on and off throughout my life but never considered myself religious. Since my grandparents passing in 2020 and 2021 I have felt some kind of urge and direction towards god but having not grown up religious it’s hard to understand and hard to know what to do. I have always searched for a purpose in life and always searched for something more. I don’t really know what I’m asking, but that’s kinda the basis of my story. I just feel stuck I guess. Not knowing what to do, not truly believing but also kind of always believing in the background.
A: These can help guide you.
NeedGod.com explains the Gospel well, so one can embrace and recieve Jesus.
This explains humanities purpose, what went wrong, and related foundational things to understand.
*Helpful for new believers, also explains the important Essentials of Christianity.
You can gain a basic grasp on what's "reasonable" and then turn to Jesus. As the rest is a life long pursuit of learning what God teaches us in Scripture that also answers our many questions. This site also helps too with that journey. There's also a Solidify your Faith section you should check out to help you examine Christianity. It has videos for easier grasping of the info.
As to finding churches, I do know folk in Australia and UK, who can help you find a solid biblical church, or reputable home church. If one of the closest ones are too far, ask for a solid referral from that church, even if its an established home church. Slim pickins for solid churches in UK these days. The Church Search page can guide you. Go to the bottom of the page for directions.
Beyond the linked info above [which is very detailed and helpful] you can check out this irl gathering place for more on Christianity. It is run by protestsnts but just be aware of this info to not fall into the wrong group within Anglican churches (they may recommend), as some are outside biblical Christianity (as it isnt like other denominations with very clear cut beliefs). And other new folk there you meet may try to "suggest" joining them at other churches, but you dont know which ones are reputable... so I would just go to the ones suggested at our church directory linked page. You can simply reply "Appreciate it, but no thank you, I am looking into a few churches right now."
*For new or newer believers, who dont understand the differences between denominations, and false religions & churches masqurading as Christian, I recommend just starting out in a Reformed Baptist, a Conservative Baptist Network affiliated Southern Baptist church [if there are any], a TMU affiliated church, ... or a non denom Baptist-like church (and grow from there). Avoid all the other groups to ensure youre not being sucked into unbiblical places, (since there are woke and progressive sects among the other denominations), so it's just easier to avoid ending up in the wrong local church, as those places do not teach the Bible but false doctrines of man and Satan.
The best option "referrals" to churches near you will be acceptable, as theyre vetted. So it's fine to go where they suggest. You dont need to go on endless investigative quest with those ones.
God bless
