False Worship
Some people recently was defending Brandon Lake and his statements and this is my response to that and the misue of Scripture....folks Brandon Lake's statement isn't to be taken lightly and it's a clear indication of the severity in which he is decieved and deceiving others.
Don't try to defend the theologically unstable folk such as Brandon Lake's. Instead we need to be coming to the defense of the purity of worship for a Thrice Holy God. There’s a lot wrong with the statements defending Lake, as a whole, Right off the bat, anyone that is coming to the defense of him and or his music needs to lift their heads out of dark waters of Culture and start viewing the world through the lens of Scripture. One cannot serve two masters, and currently Brandon Lake is yoked to Bethel and his best friend seems to be the heretic Steven Furtick. Yoking with false teachers is no light matter, considering the false god that Bethel( Kenosis theology) and Furtick worship is the god of their belly—Steven Furtick in the past has boldly proclaimed that he " is God almighty" going as far as to scream those words across the stage...this is a false god created in the image of themselves. This is a fact, do your research. The Jesus they worship is not the Jesus of the Bible. It is a false christ, one of which the Bible speaks. The main problem with these false christs and these false churches is their desire to shape the Immutable God into a god that conforms to their culture of flesh...
I say this with grief, and a touch oof righteousness indignation because when the glory of God is diminished, and His worship is tampered with under the banner of “reaching people,” we are not helping the lost; we are dishonoring the Lord.
This is a huge deal to God and I will further explain later in this message.
Dylan Eddington said it best:
"I guess Brandon Lake forgot that worship isn’t about pleasing Bubba. If when you enter a worship service all you can think of is self and how you can relate, you have not come to worship God, but yourself. These unsaved men have crept behind pulpits all over America and turned something sacred into entertainment. Worship is a sacrifice we offer unto God—to praise Him and honor Him and adore Him because He is worthy. It’s not about Bubba and his personal preferences—it’s about God. This entertainment-driven abomination is creeping into our churches and it’s going to be like a cancer. How can we call ourselves Christians and listen to what this man is saying and not be troubled at what him and those like him are doing?"
This statement cuts to the core: Worship is not for emotional resonance, but for holy reverence. It’s not about man’s comfort, but God’s glory.
Worship Is for God—Not for “Bubba”
Corporate worship is not outreach, contrary to what " seeker sensitive " churches might lead you to believe. Worship is not tailored to unbelievers. FULL STOP...It is a holy convocation—a sacred gathering of the saints to exalt the Lord on His terms, by His Word (John 4:24).
“Let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” – Hebrews 12:28–29
The moment you shape worship to appease outsiders, you dethrone God and enthrone man. That’s not ministry—that’s idolatry.
Uzzah, Nadab, Abihu may have been sincere to their own hearts but their sincerity was Sincere Disobedience.
Uzzah thought he was being helpful when he reached out to steady the Ark (2 Samuel 6:6–7). But God struck him dead. Why? Because sincerity does not sanctify disobedience.
So too with Nadab and Abihu—they brought “strange fire” into God’s sanctuary (Leviticus 10:1–3), and God consumed them. They innovated worship based on feeling, not revelation.
These examples aren't extremes. They are God’s own testimony: He is holy, and He alone defines how He is to be approached.
“Holy, Holy, Holy” is Not Christianese—It’s the Cry of Heaven and this is the part makes me mad. Brandon Lake's dismissive attitude toward rich, biblical language like “Holy, Holy, Holy” is not just careless—it’s dangerously irreverent.
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.” – Isaiah 6:3
“Day and night they never cease to say, ‘Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty…’” – Revelation 4:8
This is not archaic language. It is the worship of seraphim and saints—the language of heaven itself. To mock it as irrelevant is to mock heaven’s throne room.
Unbelievers Don’t Understand—That’s Why We Preach, Not Replace
It is true that unbelievers don’t understand terms like “sin,” “repent,” or “pray.” That’s why God gave us preaching—not editing.
“The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:14
“Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” – Romans 10:17
You don’t hide the truth to reach the lost. You declare the truth—boldly, clearly, faithfully—and let the Holy Spirit do the convicting. Dilution is not compassion. It is cowardice.
In prior statements Matthew 6:33 was Twisted into a Man-Centered Agenda,
Using Matthew 6:33—“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”—to defend culture-friendly worship is a tragic misreading.
That verse is not about marketing Jesus. It’s about yielding to His reign and His righteousness, even when the world hates it.
We are not called to make God more appealing. We are told to exalt Him as He is, and trust Him to draw His own sheep (John 10:27).
This is not Revival—It’s Rebellion Dressed in Relevance, it's shameful and it calls for repentance. You can dress up a circus in lights and fog machines, but you can’t call it worship just because you mention Jesus between the hooks.
This is not evangelism. This is man-centered emotionalism masquerading as ministry. It is a slow spiritual cancer, not a cure.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” – Acts 2:42
“The end of all true theology is doxology.” – John Calvin
Church—this is not the time for appeasement. It is the time for repentance. The God who struck Uzzah and consumed Nadab is the same God today.
God is still Holy. God is still jealous for His glory. And God is still not interested in being made more marketable.
Let the world be offended by God’s holiness. Let them hear “Holy, Holy, Holy” and feel the weight of their sin. That’s what brings repentance—not a concert, not a vibe, not a simplified Jesus.
“And such were some of you. But you were washed…” – 1 Corinthians 6:11
Let us return to reverence. Let us stop singing to Bubba and start worshiping the King. The church is not a stage, the preacher is not a performer, and God is not background music. He is the consuming fire—and He alone is worthy.
