Was LDS till teen, now wanting to know of Christianity
Q: Was in and of and went to the Mormon Temple until I was a teen, then I left it.
I’m now learning more about Christianity, but...I have never heard or seen God. I feel so far from him, and no matter what I do, I can not feel him. I suspect that I have hardened my heart so much that I am unable to feel him.
The most common solution people have given me is to read the Bible, yet I still don’t feel anything. What do I do?
A: It is good you are trying to find out what you need to know, to have a relationship with God. This will help.
This explains Christianity in basic beliefs, which the Bible; God's Word, teaches.
Faith isnt about "feelings" it's about Trust. Trusting God based on what God has said to us in the Bible. Recieving it as the Truth, and only truth. We trust based the Evidence. Truth of facts. This can help explain more about Christianity and it's Evidences, a bit broader.
As to seeing God-
God is Spirit. We cant see a Spirit. Jesus said to the Apostle, if you've seen me you've seen the Father, they are One; of the same essence and nature. So you've seen God if you see [get to know/learn about] Jesus in the Bible.
Scripture is God speaking to us. It's why He gave it to us, so we can know Him. And in it tells of Jesus, thus as noted, youve seen God. Unlike the Apostles, we wont see Him face to face until we enter eternity. That's when we will be with Him forever. [*yet while we dont see Him here on earth (in the Church age), He is always with us, and the Holy Spirit lives in us- those who are transformed by the Gospel message into a new creation, through Christ]. Note, He's not absent from our lives till eternity, he's actively involved in believers lives already. The relationship Christians have with God, begins here on earth.
If you go through these links you'll understand Christisnoty better, clearer. As non Jews, we have no Scripture knowledge of nor live in a culture like Israel [did] where they were taught [and society was built on] and educated about all that's in Scripture, so we need to have more info given to us gentiles so we can come to know God and be made right with Him through Jesus. So understanding God, understanding and problem & our need for Jesus, and understanding what being transformed by God [into a new creation] means going forward for us... then its a complete picture; the Gospel makes sense. Without the background info explained, it wouldn't make sense to non Jews. But if we were Jews, hearing just the Gospel would be an epiphany cuz theyve been taught the Scriptures from childhood. But once we gentiles are told/understand what they knew then it all makes sense... and we can obey the Gospel. We just need more info. They already know that info. So it takes a bit more for us. When we hear the full message, we embrace it because in truth it all makes sense, and we see our actual need for Jesus. We revieve that truth,, the free gift God offers in Jesus, and we don't care what it costs us, cuz we now have Christ, our eternal inheritance, a right standing with God, and a blessed eternity with Jesus to look forward to. Nothing is more important or precious.
Christ is the greatest treasure a human can have, it's worth so much that we die to self and live for Him, when God converts us into a new creation, (the moment we embrace/obey the Gospel) and we never look back.
Forcus on the above for now. Later if you want to examine it, this shows the errors of the Mormon religion. Just know that if your family is in Mormonism they may disown you - if you embace the Truth. Be prepared for that. Choose Truth, and the Real God and Savior. Eternity is too long to cling to error, die in your sins and be eternally damned. If they truly love you, they would accept your choice and not try to pull you back into Mormonism, and, will love you and remain in your life. Satan wants to get you trapped back in false religion, or seperate you from them, (so they don't hear the truth and also leave the LDS cult and embrace true Christianity). Love doesnt try to force you back into lies, or to what you're no longer interested in, and love doesnt disown you for making a different choice than they did. An evil system run by Satan does such things, and leads people (in its grip) to behave that way by intimidation, fear of loss, and force, to control. Don't listen to Satan nor those whom he blinds & controls... even if it's loved ones.
Obey the Gospel truth. Believe and trust what God said through Scripture [The Bible], the only revelation He has given to mankind. And, get equipped in Evangelism to reach your lost family members and others in the Mormon cult, ...& saturate your life in prayer and good deeds, so they can see the light of Christ in you, and be open to engage in dialogue, and to at some point -recieving the truth, so they too can be saved.
Hope this helps, as you pursue the journey towards truth and Christ.🙂✝️
God bless
