Family & others negative of my new Faith

Q: How do you cope with everyone in your life dismissing and being negative toward your new found faith and path? I don’t even share what I think anyone else should do because I’m really new to the faith and don’t know enough, but just studying the Bible or sharing something I’m excited about learning has led to major negativity from people in my life who have always otherwise been kind and supportive to me. Like my parents, husband, etc. I already don’t have many friends and so I’m feeling very alone.

A: This is normal way things go with unsaved family members and friends once you become Christian. Nothing that brings you joy in the Faith will be embraced or hold any interest to those folk. The unsaved are in the dark and spiritually dead in their sins. Until they're saved you wont have compatibility as light and darkness repel like oil and water or negative magnets.

Also it is important to join a church and be active there every Sunday, whether anyone else at home goes or not. And you'll find friends and community there.

This Message, (actually from today) [start at @ ] reminds us there will be division in family because of Christ. And has some good points and reminders.

The Bible addresses the theme of division within families of those who are following Christ.

A sword divides. Truth divides from error. The sword judges by presenting a clear division between truth and error. So that's what's meant below.

Matthew 10:34-36 Jesus said, "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'"

Luke 12:51-53 Jesus said, "Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three."

John 7:43 "Thus the people were divided because of Jesus."

Remember, believers are encouraged to seek peace and reconciliation where possible, and live in peace, with our behavior & responses showing them Christ.

Heres some helps that can help you reach them. And encouragement as you persevere in the Faith and grow into maturity .

Romans 12:18 : "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

But, yes, Jesus brings peace between a believer and God, and joy to our souls for Him saving us.

All is not lost for them though....You can try to probe them about Christianity, and help answer their questions, while finding opportunities to share the Gospel, so they too can be saved. This is called Evangelism.

On Perseverance in the Faith

Also some helps regarding holy living & godly mindset to grasp as a new believer. You can study these as you have time. It will help you in your interactions with those in your life who are not saved. And show Christ in you, to draw them to you.

Here is a church search directory. Just pick some near you and go visit them, then pick one and join there.

God bless as you start this blessed journey with God in your life. Jesus name means "God With Us", and he is always with us who follow Him.
