Study Bibles and women's study
Q: I like the Woman’s Study Bible because it gives teachings more specific to women.
It seems to gives a good summary, but in different chapters, they highlight different focus points which has me conflicted because I don’t want to miss out on the important points in Scripture. A woman's study is fine but I want to study Scripture well too.
But, how do I determine which type of Bible is best to start reading?
A: You could ask your Sunday school teacher at church, you can ask what version they teach with, or see what version your Pastor uses from the pulpit.
For personal reading, Focus on the Bible "version" itself, and only choose one reputable, not whatever a publisher is trying to sell. Many today are wishy washy ones to avoid. Not the bells and whistles added to lure you to buy it.
I've wished forever that these various study bibles proliferating bookshelves would just publish the contents as a break out solo book for studying with Scripture. That way most can be critiqued and marked to avoid. They won't do that cuz they make more $ by putting it in a pricey Bible than by itself as a thinner book.
If you're new to reading, I suggest just reading Scripture cover to cover 2x before diving into any daily study in the Word. Let That be the study for now. You can always journal your questions and by the 3rd read thru with a study Bible/resources you'll find the answers resolved, and grow in understanding. It is a life long process.
I use the studybible app as it has helpful notes about the Scriptures themselves. I click a verse and a resources button opens so I can study the verses and topics there. I also use good commentaries for a deeper dive. I only have 2 study Bibles, the Evidence Bible and the MacArthur as it has 55 yrs of notes in there from his solid preaching and studies [and is the best study Bible out there]. He's called America's Pastor, and will be long after, just as Spurgeon is the Prince of Preachers.
I had looked through those varied study bibles in the past, like one for women etc and they are lacking in many ways, but you can always [cautiously] pair what your reading to gptchat or gemini ai to ask how it can be applied in context to a woman's holy living, and ask it to give you 20 questions to think through on that. It can help provide a more robust study than a woman's study Bible.
Heres more resources to help you consider & to study the bible well.
As to the helps Ai can kind of provide, using with caution, this example can help.
Hope this helps.
God bless
