Attend a concert-tedtalk kind of church, but a RCC friend is encouraging me to attend her cathedral.
Q: So I was always raised as a Christian in evangelical type churches. Well lately I feel like idk if I'm in the wrong denomination. My friend is catholic and something about it just makes being a member of their church so much more serious. I don’t think going to church should feel like listening to a concert with a nice ted talk type speech afterwords I feel like I need more scripture and more seriousness. Idk I’m lost.
How or why do we choose a denomination?
I know people think Catholics pray to saints but they all say they pray to the saints to pray for them not like they’re praying to the saints asking for them to do these things for them in their life. Idk it’s super confusing I know
A: RCC tries to appear as a Christian denomination; to decieve you. Outside the USA the distinction is very very clear. In truth, Catholicism isn't Christianity. It's an apostate works-based religion masqurading as Christian, decieving the masses. Christianity is Grace based per Scripture which teaches the true Gospel that saves.
It sounds like you need to go through a Essential foundational class on Christianity, to know the truth & so false sects don't decieve you. A solid church will have these classes.
If your Christian denomination is doing concerts, then move to one within protestants that doesn't. Not all protestant churches are like that, not even all churches in your denomination either. Investigate around to find a Bible focused church.
The false teachings of Catholicism are idolatry in general and adultery towards the true God & Jesus (which they don't have, know, or teach there).
For a look into why Roman Catholic, Orthodox [which are very similar], and other religions are "false" ones, you can discuss with your pastor and Sunday school teacher, or look at the linked info. But you first have to understand the essential basics of what [God through] Scripture teaches [revealed]. When you compare God's Word to the teachings of men you can easily see their bamboozle, and avoid them. They are false teachers with a false god, false jesus and false gospel. What they teach prevents salvation and leads to damnation. It's why it is vital to understand what God [by the Bible] has clearly told us.
Find a solid Bible focused church, and let the leaders there know you need to be in a discipleship class and be discipled. They'll have you join one, or create one to teach you.

Ps. God has called us to not be unequally yoked. That's not just dating/marriage, it includes in business partnerships as well as in friendships. That friend you have is unequally yoked to you and you will need to share the Gospel with her &/or end the friendship if she doesn't embrace the truth and leave Roman Catholicism. You'll make friends at your church among the Redeemed brethren whom will be an active part of your life from now on. You can only be friends with the [truly] born again folk.
Satan is using the Catholic to lure you from true Christianity into an apostate religion, through an unequally yoked friend. Thus this serves as another warning as to why we can't befriend and be friends with those outside biblically true Christianity. And why we need to understand what true Christianity is & teaches on the most basic level.
