Asian culture and statues?

Q: Is it wrong for me to have a Buddha statue in my home? I truly feel that I don’t idolize him I just always have liked the looks of chinese culture and been intrigued with the chakras and all of that since i was in high school. I collected this awesome vintage Buddha broken egg and a Fuu Dog (one of those dog statues you might see at a Chinese restaurant with change all over it) I’ve had these things for years and I’m sad to part with them but if it’s wrong I need to.. I just am feeling unsure on what is right and wrong, looking for any insight.. thank you

A: Yes. It is an idol. Christians are not to have such things!

You cannot be a light for Christ in your home and when others visit if you have such a thing there. It sends [preaches] a false gospel and gives a conflicting message to those who visit your home, including children (and other folks you want to lead to Christ). Our lives are to be holy and not give a hint towards evil. This makes it appear that you add Jesus to other false gods as if they're all the same. All gods are false and YHWH is the only real God.

Being a Christian, this truth is to be known. You can't present that truth if it appears you have embraced other religions, and mingled Jesus with darkness. Don't ever do that.

“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23‬:‭13‬ ‭

If this is how God feels about even MENTIONING them, imagine keeping one, meant to be worshipped, in your home. Out of love, God has been very clear about idols; whether physical or mental. And, really, that is an huge understatement. God seperated Israel from the pagan nations to not be like them nor mingle with them, snc when they did it was disasterous. It also caused them to commit spiritual adultery towards God. They were to be a light guiding the world to the true God for salvation, and we as believers are set apart & to be that light guiding people to Christ.

Having representations of other gods can lead to spiritual compromise. It may dilute one's faith and relationship with YHWH, as it can create confusion about the nature of worship and devotion. But it definitely sends wrong messages to unsaved people who visit your home. Professjng Christ but having false gods too... it's wickedness towards God to have such a thing and think its ok to like those things.

Repent of it, trash it, avoid all those false representations those in false religions & cultures create and display,...and don't do it again. Your new nature and mind should never be allowing you to lean towards those things.

There are other nice works of art you can find to decorate your home, even a bronze abstract blob wouldnt be like statues that unsaved idolators put in their homes. You can also find Christian pieces or artwork with verses, so you can represent Christ well... and not be led astray by nor lead others astray by false subtle deception of Satan by the lure of world idols.

1 Thessalonians 5:22: "Abstain from every form of evil."

Luke 17:1-2: And he said to his disciples, Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea

Matthew 18:6: "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

Philippians 2:4: "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
Romans 15:1: "We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves."

1 Peter 2:12: "Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God

2 Corinthians 6:3: "We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry."

Matthew 28:19-20: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20: All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us.

Galatians 1:8-9: "But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema)! As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed!"

Galatians 6:1: "Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted."

Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Philippians 4:8: "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

Repent and turn back to God.
