Spiritual warfare, confusion about music, clothes, food, speech, missing Scripture, & worldly things, living as Christian

Q: I’ve been trying to have a better relationship with God and I feel like I’m at a point in my journey where some would call spiritual warfare, and im not sure how to handle it I pray for clarity however i feel more confused then ever.

Between music, people, food that we eat, the clothes we wear, the things we speak, certain traditions that we’ve been lied to about, adjusted and missing pieces of biblical text and basically everything around us I can’t decipher what direction to turn anymore because everything in todays society is worldly.

Obviously none of us are worthy of our Fathers love and I know Jesus died for our sins because as humans we all do it, but I want to walk and speak in a way that people know I’m a child of God and I’m stuck because how do we do that in a society that’s so different from when Jesus was here.

A: It's important to know the Essentials of Christianity so the rest of what you believe and study aligns with biblical truth. This is an important starting point, for all believers.

This has guidance on spiritual warfare.

Wear the Armor of God, and pick up your cross daily following Jesus. As to how to live, its about righteousness. Kill sin in your life as it presents itself, and go the way of holiness. The answer to your questions all springs from the inner man; from the spiritual life given by God when you were born again, guided by the righteous nature as it flows out affecting your thoughts, worldview, words, behavior, actions, deeds etc.

There are many helps here to guide you. Take it a day at a time, but do read Scripture daily and pray. Growth takes time, but be active about it

As to specific topics noted I'll guide you to these as a start.

1. There's no missing bible texts or verses, that's a lie by false teachers.

As far as Scripture reliability these videos can help (as can the deeper dive).

2. Questions about people, such as friendships and bad company. We are not to be unequally yoked.

3. As to food and clothes

A. If you mean dressing modesty...

If you mean why we don't abide by Jewish laws and other objections tossed at us by unbelievers on OT stuff, see link 1 and 4 below

B. There's false teaching out there by cults, fake Christian; apostate religions, and legalist churches, trying to deceive you. Scripture is clear all foods are clean, and the mixed fabric is void. These explain more as to why and why Christians don't follow those practices.

4. On speech such as holy and shouldnt be cussing, this can guide.

5. About music, what we listen to, and what we entertain, is to be reprioritized to what's holy and good, avoiding worldly.

6. On the worldly. These are some generic guides, but consider what the unsaved do and how they live in darkness & sin (spiritually dead), vs holy people of God live in righteousness & the Light (having spiritual life).

Gods word says He called us to be a particular people, set apart to Him, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). His Word also says to not conform to the world. (Romans 12:2). We are called to not conform to the culture and trends of the world or to chase worldly idols, nor live in general idolatry or adultery towards God And we are to renew our minds with the washing of the Word.

Romans 12:2
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Ephesians 5:26
"to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word."

So, we must study His Word to understand how to live a holy life that is aligned with God. Surround yourself with mature believers & leader shepherds at church who have been on this walk who can encourage you and correct you along the way. Its vital to be a part of a church & one that truly teaches Gods Word in truth.

Ask your Sunday School teacher or pastor for guidance in other areas you need further help with or faq. Check your pastors archived sermons first. And study Scripture to look into topics for holy living. It takes time to go through all these, and in general have a maturing understanding of what's in Scripture. Take everything ine day at a time, but actively do so.

Hope these helped

God bless
