New believer struggles in believing Scripture
Q: New Believer. I was baptized a couple months ago and I just feel overwhelmed when it comes to reading the Bible. I ask God to help me understand what I'm reading, but everytime I read something my brain automatically goes to "how could this be true". I want to believe, I know that I can believe. I just don't know.... I'm feeling a little lost.
A: God provided a miracle at your salvation by radically transforming you into a new creation. He said in Scripture why we need to & how someone gets saved, and how their life looks once saved, so that already is a huge indication you can trust God's Word.
Simply Trust that what God revealed in the Bible is the authoritative truth from God, will help any light unbelief you're experiencing or I should say your concerns over the Reliability of Scripture.
These can help:
Can you Trust the Bible, by America's Pastor
Is the Bible True, by Wess Huff, (411)
And go thru the 4 videos here to solidify your faith and trust in God and Scripture.
*Bottom area also goes into a good deep study on the Reliability of Scripture
Note, Baptism doesnt save. Also there are many in churches today who come to Jesus for wrong reasons or embrace a false Gospel. Ensure you are saved by going through this resource. Unsaved people cannot understand the Scriptures as they lack the indwelling Holy Spirit. So make sure you are saved. The rest will follow naturally and as you grow in the Faith over time, into maturity.
