Confused about KJV and secondary beliefs

Q: I need clarity about religion and Bibles.
What religion technically reads the King James Version (or NKJV Bible). I don’t understand all these varied things about non-denominational, baptism, etc that I hear and it's confusing.

A: Its great you are looking into this. And yes for those new to Christianity these things may seem confusing at first glance.

The Geneva Bible was the Bible of Protestants until KJV became popular in USA (mostly due to England laws here [b4 US independence], and printing costs), but it later also became used by false churches, and cults like KJVOnlyists and Mormons. Christian churches stopped using KJV by 1990, and moved to more reputable newer translations. KJV isnt the modern English we use today, so it's advisable to avoid churches who use it. Reputable churches today would use NASB, LSB, ESV and NKJV. But those who use ESV & NKJV must also agree that NASB is a reputable reliable version (otherwise, avoid them).

Further, it is important to understand Christian denominations, so you can go to the one that most closely aligns with your current understanding. (You can move on to another denomination/church once you mature in the faith, as necessary).

What you do need to know is if a church believes "in the Essentials" then they're highly likely a biblical church. This info will be stated clearly on their faith statement found on thrir website. *Other matters such as secondary beliefs, don't affect our unity in Christianity, but will divide us into diff denominations. So if a church holds to the basics of biblical salvation noted in the essentials, you can go there. If they deviate in any one part or more, they aren't Christian and are to be avoided. (Example, Catholic, Orthodox, Mormon, Jehovah Witness, 7th Day Adventist, anyone who says baptism is required for salvation, and Oneness Penticostal to name a few, are to be avoided).

Heres the Essentials agreement. This comes directly from the Bible; God's Word.

Here's some info on Secondary and Denominations to know, to better help you find a church, and to help you grow to understand what Scripture teaches, so you can solidify & hold to a more biblically accurate belief on specific topics. Thus helping you avoid church hopping later, but its ok if you need to change. Go where God leads you.

As far as resources to help you grow in the Faith, this will be a great help & blessing.

Here is a reputable church directory, along with some questions you can ask a church before finding one that is biblical and safe to attend.

God bless
