Need to understand God, & grow in faith

Idk much about the Bible and I'm embarrassed.

I have so many questions and I feel like the devil is trying to stop me from learning.

Its my first time reading the Bible, and I've run into a perception and assumption issue. I always pictured God as gentle and soft spoken. As I'm reading in Matthew, God seems angry, alot. And little mean with His words. Someone said that He can get frustrated when people don't have faith in him. I just never pictured him saying that. My MIL said He speaks to you how you need to be spoken to.

Idk my heart breaks because I fear God I can cry thinking about getting closer to Him because I'm scared. He isn't what I thought even though I knew there's so much more to Him... if that makes sense? The beginning of this year I craved for the Word. The more I read, the more fear that I get. When ever I have doubt, I just pray. But now I'm thinking He's like you fool how dare you question Me.

I haven't told anyone the last part.

I just want help to be the Godly Woman I saw myself being and getting closer to God.

A: Its actually great you are wanting a closer relationship with God and will be glad to encourage and guide you into that.

God is holy and perfect. The Bible speaks to this and it's connection to sin and judgment and punishment of sinners. It also speaks of him as a loving Father who blesses and disciplines his children. Those saved (see needGod.com) will not face him as a judge punishing evil doers since Jesus was punished in our place.

Its good to understand who God is (his character, nature, attributes), and the Bible reveals him, but for many believers having these things explained in teaching/doctrine is helpful. Many have no idea about who God us and often get confused when reading Scripture. So going through this full study on who God is, will really bless you and bring you peace.

God the Father just as God Jesus will speak with authority, correct error, reprove and chastise in areas people are wrong, he did so throughout the Bible, not just in Jesus time on earth. It all makes sense though once you study to learn who God reallybis, so you know why he says and does what he does. 😊

Bonus. Since you are newish to the Faith, this will help. It explains what is in the Bible, and this site is a great resource for growing believers.

God bless
