Where to start Reading Scripture
Q: Just got a Bible 😁📖, but don't know where to start reading. It does seem reasonable it would be in Genesis 😅, but should I start somewhere else? 🤔😊
A: The NLT is a starter Bible, helps people understand things simply, (sort of like a kids Bible) and it is also helpful if ESL or if you have lower reading comprehension. I used it as a newer growing believer, so it's fine. But moved on to a more accurate reputable version (NASB95) not long after. You should too. At least after reading through it 2 times. That way you grasp the basics of the info in each book. Then you can deeper dive with a more accurate reliable version to study deeper.
Heres a good place to start reading.
Gen 1-11, John, Romans, Ephesians.
After that read the Gospels, and then the whole NT. From there read Gen to Revelation cover to cover. Use an audiobible if needed (not usually available in NLT, but you can use NASB95 at biblegateway to help you thru the hard early books of the Bible).
From there you can daily read cover to cover for the rest of your life, and sometimes do fun reading plans like these
Also a solid Study Bible will help you as you read. And I highly recommend it.
