Relative passed, shocked prayer didn't heal her
Q: I’m not sure how to word this correctly, so please bear with me..
My family recently found out that my aunt was very sick, and she refused medical treatment… she went downhill very fast once sick, and she died this morning..
How do we accept that we asked God to heal someone & to pull them through something like this, but they still ended up passing? I feel in shock I guess, and I don’t understand why she had to pass..
Im new to my walk with God & I see so many passages about how if we ask Him for what he want/need, He will always provide.. but in this case it seems like he didn’t… if that makes sense? Can you clarify.
A: First, condolences losing someone is hard, especially if you were close. But also cuz it affects the family 🫂.
Because if the Fall in Eden there is suffering in the world. All are sinners so all die, we go out a myriad of ways. Rom 3:23 says the wages [what we earn] of sin is death. But the latter part goes on to speak of believers. Our end is different than those who die in their sins. There's a difference between being forgiven and not, and it affects their eternity.
We have to come to terms that death is real, and will come for us. In life and death, it will either lead us to the arms of Jesus, or drag us to Hell.
It also shows the urgency of sharing the Gospel with others, as tomorrow is not guaranteed; for them, or us to be used further by God to hearald that message.
For believers this world isn't our home, we are passing through. God is with us, and is leading us towards our eternal sin free eternity in glory. Until we get there he has business for us to do here on the way.
I hope this can be a help & blessing to you in your time of grief.
Second, we need to look at Scripture in context. The original Scriptures didnt have verses. It was one cohesive Word from God. So we have to look at it as a whole. On this topic, our prayers are not wishes or demands. God doesnt do our bidding, we do his (as his faithful servants of righteousness). He created us and is our King, God, our Lord. We submit to him. Our Prayers need to be like Jesus, our example, in his humanity: "Not my will but yours Father", thus we pray for God's will to be done. In 1 John 5:24 God says ask, but He does not promise everything we ask for will be given how we expect or want. 1 John 5:14, says "that if we ask according to His will it will be given". Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." God's will is we are to seek Him first, to live in righteousness and the rest follows; When we are right with him, following him, submitting to him, and having the mind of Christ, we will focus on living out whatever God's will is, including our prayers aligning to it.

I hope this has helped.
