Nervous or anxious to go to Church
Q: Im new to the faith and just starting to go to church and read the Bible. How do you feel about going to church? A few hours before, I always feel anxious and start shaking a lot. I feel like it's not my place. Tomorrow I'm going to church, and today I'm already nervous and wondering if I should really go. I don't know if this feeling comes from the devil to paralyze me, or if it is just me. I go to church alone and I think this also makes things worse, I don't have Christian friends who can go.
A:First, you arent alone, God the trinity is with you. 😊😊
Second, Fear not. The great news is they local bible focused church is as close to Heaven as we can get on earth. It is a warm inviting, loving place where we gather together. People of all kinds, now in Christ.
🙏🏽2 Tim 1:7 says
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
God does not give a fearful spirit or anxiety or depression… so who is sending these emotions and thoughts?
Ignore those, & negative thoughts. Turn that fear to joy; Rejoice in your faith and in Christ. So purpose in your heart that you will go to church tomorrow and go. You’ll be just fine.
Tonight to prepare your heart and mind, turn on an audio Bible to Psalms or the Gospel, and play continuously throughout the night, and wake up excited or positive minded to go.
Meet the Sunday school teacher to discuss concerns, and discuss with the Pastor. It should be a joyful exciting glad feeling to be going there. First to worship God with others, and to meet eternal brethren.
If you dont know where the Sunday school is, ask someone you see for directions, or after service speak to the pastor about connecting you to and joining a bible study to find friends and closer community. When you get to Sunday School, introduce yourself to the teacher, or if its already started, introduce yourself to him after class, share your nervousness and any introvertness, tell a little about yourself, and ask the teacher to introduce you next week, and ask everyone to help you come out of your shell so you can meet others, form friendships, and eventully serve God here [church].
God will be with you and lead you, so don't fight him but open yourself up and slowly speed up coming out of your shell.
