Struggling Christian: Faith & God's Love
Q: What should I do when it feels like God is so far away & I'm losing my faith? I feel like I havent known or experienced God personally. Despite asking Him over and over again to reveal Himself. Knowing that the Bible says God loves you, but feeling like He doesn’t. What should I do?
A:
First, how does God love us? What does Scripture say? Once we understand that, we can understand other things.
Second, We should not be looking for a subjective experience to validate our faith. We need to direct our thoughts to the objective Word of God, and trust Him.
If we are saved "God has brought us near to him" and "restored" what was lost at the Fall [Spiritual life and a personal fellowship with Him].
What you need to do:
Read Scripture daily & meditate on it.
Start in NT and when done start Gen to Rev and keep repeating. You' ll grow closer in fellowship with God thru the Word and prayer.
Remember that God is not a liar. If we are saved he does love us. Plus, think about this, He loved us so much that he went to such great lengths and cost Him (Jesus), who took the eternal wrath of God for all your sins on the cross, to redeem you. That is a great love 😀.
He revealed Himself to us in His Word, that is where we need to be. That is where He speaks to us.
I hope the below link will also help you in prayer time, remembering we can and should pray unceasingly; not only a certain time nor just once a day. Regularly.
Also, Always start your day in the Scriptures; 15 to 30 minutes reading Scripture. Never neglect that. A well known preacher said "The Bible will keep you from sin, or Sin will keep you from reading it." The further we are from tje Word the further we are in our fellowship with Him. Remember it is where & how God speaks to a believer. Not just knowing about it, but being in it. Reading & prayer go hand in hand in fellowshipping with God. Start your day right, and meditate on what you read during the day. Hide His Word in your heart.
Jesus said "I am with you always".
"You can’t feel the presence of God. You don’t have any mechanism to feel the presence of God. I’ve never felt the presence of God; I don’t even know what that means. But I do know this: He’s here. And more than that, He not only inhabits the praise of His people; is joined to His people in union all the time so that the church itself literally is in constant communion with God collectively" (*)
Also, Get a firm grasp on your Christian faith to remove doubts(**). It is usually a lack of the above, and lack of trusting God, that leads one to those kinds of feelings and concerns.
