Warnings for women on Pastors
There are far too many scandals and downfalls of Pastors today.
Possibly because of the internet, there are men in pastoral positions who have been given global platform, beyond youtube fame, who have a large ministry and global reach. When a scandal or disqualifying fall happens, it is devastating far beyond just the pastor. It has such a broad and deep reach, that it can even shatter some believers faith.
God made men and women, and we are by design drawn to each other, and are to marry and live a married life. If we were still living in a world Pre Fall everything would be perfect. But because the Fall happened, there are sins of all kinds that entered the world. Men lust after women, and they do all sorts of sins. You and I sin. We sin a lot. Redeemed people still sin. We dont lose our salvation because of sin, but it causes tsunami of problems with far reaching consequences and leaves disaster in its wake.
Believers need to grasp this...
Scripture tells us not to cause other believers to sin. It is very serious.
This means believers have to do all we can to not only not lure people to sin or by mistake, flippantly say or do something, and this includes not enticing men to sin. This is why holy living and growing into maturity in faith are very important.
Women need to be modest, and practice self control.
A Christian woman shared this recently, and it needs to be said and understood.
"I heard a story about RC Sproul years ago, who had coldcocking some woman who ran down the isle towards him (having loved his ministry I guess), not sure if at a conference or what. I used to be okay with side hugs with close pastors if we were friendly with or friends with the pastor and wife, at small churches, but after hearing that [Sproul] I realized It is so important for women to be going to lengths to protect & help guard the pastor and other male leaders by using self control there even in what seems like something innocent, because you never know what they're thinking or struggling with internally, or if a tiny thing causes them to go down that route. Of course they should have high holy standards in living, but like so many noted, anyone can fall.
Even with good friends who are married, and even if I knew the husband prior to the wife, and even when doing things in town always go in threes. Plus, not being alone with any man is important for woman's safety at church, in counseling, anywhere at all. This coming out is a global reminder to every believer, and pastor included, to be very very careful with your thought life, and walk as holy as possible. But especially for Pastors, they need to really kill those issues well in advance so those are not even temptations or issues that arise. EZ Zwayne just wrote a book on Men and Purity that all men should read. JMac did a comment or forward in it as well."
Don't be alone with the Pastor. Always have another woman there with you. Whether it is for counseling, for a conversation, for a meeting, a chance run in in town, etc, be wise and in the latter situation, wave and keep moving. You can text him and his wife later on and say it was good to see you. No matter what it is, never be alone with a man, or a man in a leadership position at church, and the same is true for men, do not be alone with a woman ever, not even with a "just leave the door open" policy... no. Don't be alone.
