The Prodigal; lived in sin, desire for turning to God

Q: I’ve been a Christian all my life, but I realize that I’ve been lukewarm in my faith. I now feel a deep desire to turn away from sin, pursue a more righteous life, draw closer to God, and make it to heaven. What are some key steps I can take to begin this journey toward a more holy and devoted life?

A: No one is a "Christian" their whole life. And, tbh many dont realize that while they may have grown up in church and prayed a prayer, but are actually false converts (they embraced a wrong/false gospel, or came to Jesus for a different reason than Scripture offers); so they never were saved to begin with. And thus live a life of sin after their "profession".

Understanding the difference between knowing of God and intimately knowing Him. The latter helps you in many ways and areas such as when hard times come, since you still hold fast in faith knowing God is good, does good, is up to something good that will bless you too.

Let's make sure today that you are saved...

Scripture tells us to examine ourselves to see if we are saved, to make sure. You can start here... and if you need to repent of sin, or repent & obey the Gospel for salvation, go from there. ✝️✨️

*Salvation in Jesus is how we are redeemed and go to Heaven. So, make sure to obey the Gospel, today. Right now.

For others, they wandered off a short time, but God convicts them of their sins. Not people self righteously living a false faith, but those who are children of God. They don't stray for long, and might have weak faith that needs solidifying and serious growth to mature as a believer in order to live according to God's design, command, and with desire to live a holy life at any cost. If after you examine yourself you believe you are saved, then repent of your sins in the wilderness where you roamed and get back on the righteous path, and dont wander off again.

In living the Christian life: we need to read Scripture daily. Learn more and more about who God is, and who Jesus revealed himself as, know God's attributes. Also see how we were created to be image bearers of God, likewise living out the communicable attributes of God; Scripture shows us how to live holy lives by loving God and others. This means killing and conquering all sin wherever it is found in your life [whether big or small]. Wear the Armor of God, grow in the Fruit of the Spirit, and live to please and serve God, not yourself. Avoid focus on the temporary things of this earth and live eternally minded, desiring to hear "well done my faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord" as you enter eternity.

After you get saved/get right with God... go Find a bible focused church, get baptized, grow in Scripture a few years before serving there, be active at church, learn to share the Gospel and your testimony [with a gospel focus;on Jesus].

Know God intimately; Experience the presence of God

Here are resources to help you grow.

God bless  😊
