Love letters communication illustration
Q: I’ve always had faith, but I haven’t been on the Christian path like I should be. I dont go to church and I dont pray. I am worried that God doesn’t come into my life. I want to really try to live right. Helps?
A: Avoiding Bible and prayer is 1. What the unsaved do [even if they profess but live as idolators], 2. what leads to problems in actual believers lives; robs their joy, makes them anxious and full of worry & fears... and they driftvinto a sinful life. Not reading the Bible, not praying and not going to church are not behaviors of a believer. It is possible you obeyed the Gospel and have been saved but are a weak believer. Perhaps you are not saved but thought you were. You need to examine yourself to find out, and go from there.
A: Let's look at this illustration...
You have a fiance whom you love and you delight in writing letters to communicate your thoughts, feelings and desired hopes. Your betrothed writes you love letters and you anticipate getting to the next one and reading it, and re reading it as you get to know the person more and more you love em deeper and deeper & cant wait till you finally see each other [& live together for life]. The same is true of Scripture. It is the Word of God. Jesus is called the Word of God and our bridegroom. We believers are the Bride.
If you stop communicating it shows there is no love. A lack of love. There's no relationship and no future with that person.
God has written us 66 love letters and put it in one book; Holy Scripture.
If you dont read it, dont communicate, it shows you dont really love that person.
So something is wrong. Either you deluded yourself to think you had a relationship, or you need to repent of failing to be the person you are supposed to be towards the one you love. Go to God in prayer and deal with this issue, then the fellowship will be restored, your relationship renewed, and you can grow your relationship stronger, to be unbreakable. You now determine to be faithful and reliable and trustworthy to the one you truly do love. And prove it in your daily life.
God's Word is Him communicating to you &
Prayer is you communicating to him.
This is how it is until we are in His presence in eternity.
