note. The Saved Grow and our assurance is based on Trust in God thru the work of Christ our Savior

2 Timothy 2:11-13:
“The saying is trustworthy, for:
If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful - for he cannot deny himself.”

Many of the Puritans had great assurance but it wasn’t because they were perfectly faithful. They treasured a faithful God and we’re treasure by him, so they could be confident that God-given faith would endure because God’s love endures forever.

“This faith, although it be in different stages, and may be weak or strong, (11) yet it is in the least degree of it different in the kind or nature of it, as is all other saving grace, from the faith and common grace of temporary believers; (12) and therefore, though it may be many times assailed and weakened, yet it gets the victory, (13) growing up in many to the attainment of a full assurance through Christ, (14) who is both the author and finisher of our faith.(15)”
