Talking about Death with a child

Q: My brother in law passed this weekend. Tragically he drowned in the lake close to home at only 33 years old leaving behind two boys age 3 and 9. They don’t know that he’s passed yet and the little one had a dream last night. He said “daddy was fishing then he went up to a castle”. The Bible says the dead don’t speak and they don’t remember us after death? I’m so confused. I want to believe this is confirmation he made it to the kingdom but also biblically it can’t be. I also dont want to believe Scripture on the point made that the dead don't speak and they don't remember us after death?!?! 😳 Then what's the point?! 😰 Sounds awful! Thoughts?

A: Sorry for your loss. 💔🫂

To answer and counsel, No. Likely just be his desires to be doing stuff w his dad & things mixed up in his mind from reading stories of valiant knights and castles or some castle show or commercial he saw. I def wouldn't consider it from God.

But... you can use it as icebreaker to talk about how the born again go to God's Heaven and get to live with King Jesus. And that after Christians get to Heaven one day in the future we get to reunite, forever.

Then talk about death to prep him. And then break the news of his fathers passing, after he understands.

To answer your confusion on the latter:
"The point" of eternity for believing mankind, is to be reunited with our Creator God and Savior Jesus & spend eternity with Him.

"The point" of our existence here is to Know and glorify God.

Man’s chief end and highest purpose in life is "to glorify God and enjoy Him forever" (Read Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Psalm 86:9, & Isaiah 43:7).
