The problem with Moralism

Q: An unsaved person I know has stopped watching porn and doing other things. Should we view it as a positive when someone claims to now be doing good or living morally well?

A: No. It is simply deception. It can lull you into not sharing the Gospel with them, thinking they're fine. They're not. They need Jesus.

The unsaved people can "clean up" their life to be/appear more moral; just like the Jews, Catholics, Orthodox, cults, false Christian groups, & all those in other world religions... people twist righteousness to suit their sins; they cannot live righteously since they are not clean inside. They make up their own moral standard that doesnt align with God's standard. They decieve; do what they can to appear outwardly religious, but internally are wicked and only think and do evil continually.

Without Jesus (without salvation) theres no inner change. No radical transformation where the person is living in righteousness [by nature].

This explains even lives of false converts or idolators like Josh Duggar. Sometimes their life gets exposed and everything comes to light. Other times folk hide it in public but when theyre behind closed doors at home it is exposed [at least to a degree], or they might hide some of it or all of it well for 30 yrs... or until Judgment Day. God knows though.

So him "giving up porn" doesnt mean he isnt lusting after other women, or doing "other" unrighteous things in his mind or outwardly when around you or not around you. The unsaved are not trustworthy for they always do what is sinful and self motivated. Even giving their spouse the appearance of being loving.

So dont rely on or put hope in the things he has "seemingly stopped doing". Even if hes not watching porn, its because other sins are more important right now- such as appearing moral and good.

Satan is the father of all the unsaved, so his children lie & hate just like he does. He is a deceiver masquerading as an angel of light, who greatly decieves... so his children by nature do too.

So... when big things happen or things that crush you or cause you to suffer - cling to Jesus, to God. Remember this is a fallen world, we are here temporarily, traveling through on our way to glory [Heaven] and no matter what sinful people do or cause, is no surprise, nor has any bearing on your relationship with God. He works out all things for good. Even in the most impossible to understand situations.

Trust God, stay close to God through Scripture (daily), and to the local congregation of believers (by being an active member at your church). It is "as close to" Heaven as we can get in this sin stained world. And our lives need to be reprioritized to revolve around it. We belong to God now, obey him above men, and are to be eternally minded.

God be with you & may we meet in Heaven one day. 😊
