Struggling with Porn
Porn struggle
Q: From middleschool to college I’ve been living in sin. I walked in sin and not sure I am even a Christian. I’ve been trying to turn away from a addiction to porn, but keep failing. I know Christians are not to live that way. What I want to know is. Am I still saved and How can I stop sinning?
A: These are issues that are not often talked about enough esp in churches. First of all, I want to say that if you are a child of God, you are precious and God's beloved. We are called to examine ourselves. There are many who embrace a false gospel today and are not even saved. Among them are many who live "moralistically" and feel guilty of sin... so ensure you are not going the way of Judas but of Peter. The fact that you feel wrong watching porn there might be an indication of the Holy Spirit in you convicting you. But...settle this matter today to know for sure.
Secondly, On sin - Many people who prayed, tried, and failed. But in Christ you can conquer this sin. See links.
Stay reading Scripture daily, allowing God to communicate to you and keep you close to him so you do not sin. Also gain a deeper understanding of sin and who God is, it will help you understand more about who you now are in Christ.
You can pray be something like this daily until you conquer this sin: “Father, I want to live a life pleasing to you, a holy life. I tried with my own strength and failed. Help me, deliver me from my sin addiction. I want to live a life holy and pleasing to you. I submit myself to you. Help lead and guide me daily by your Word to live out my life in righteousness.”
Stay aware of it and flee any temptation of it.
