Leaving Catholicism and need help

Q: Help me understand please. I grew up roman catholic because of my family. I dont consider myself ”catholic” and hardly went to church so I lean ”spiritual”. As im getting older Ive been wanting to get close to God, and I noticed theres a lot I dont like and agree with the catholic religion. 

I am considering Christianity. I went to a Christian church today, loved it I want to continue going to. 

Can you explain catholic vs christian beliefs differences to me? Also what do I have to do in order to become Christian?

Here are the essential basics that Scripture teaches. 

In a nutshell Scripture tells us salvation is by God's Grace. All other religions (including catholicism) teach works. He is our creator. He is in control. He sets terms by which humans get saved. He gets the glory. 

This will help you detangle the false things catholicism has taught you, and explain what God through Scripture actually teaches (and it exopses those errors and heresy).
