Catholic wants to become Christian

Q: I’ve been catholic my whole life (because I was raised in it), but have gone to a Christian church recently. How do I convert to Christianity and leave catholicism behind, because I feel like Christianity is the truth.

I do have a few questions though. If in Christianity we’re all saved why do we need to repent and live Christ like if the idea is we all make it to Heaven because he died on the Cross for us? What is the difference with this vs what was happening as a catholic? Is it the same ?  And do Christian’s believe in hell, burning for eternity? Also what happens to non-obedient Christian?

A: I will answer this from Christian perspective. As far as RCC the difference is there is no salvation there. They preach a false gospel of man's works like all false religions. Christianity is different: salvation is by God's Grace alone & fully paid for by Jesus on the cross [Scripture clearly teaches this].

Those in Christianity, or any quasi Christian or cult group claiming to be Christian >>doesnt mean they are. People follow many false beliefs and teachings in any belief system. Jesus in the parables, and across all the NT, God tells us many profess to be believers but are not born again. God will separate the redeemed from the false professers at the end. Jesus said in the NT that "many on that last day will cry out to him saying didnt we do this and that in your name but He will tell them depart into the eternal lake of fire for I never knew you, you who practice lawlessness." He knows who are His. The Redeemed's names are written in the Lambs Book of Life and they will enter Heaven.

Those who get Saved are those whom God converted (in the inner man). They have been given spiritual life -and the Holy Spirit is now indwelling them [sealed them to salvation]. They recieved the fruit of the Spirit, now hate sin, love righteousness and follow Christ- persevering to the end. If you obey the Gospel, and God [proof shown by radical transformation, you will growing in knowledge and faith by studying Scripture, and following Christ's example and live out your life true faith both internally and externally, then those fruits of proif of your salvation show you are saved] so when Judgment Day arrives [or the day of seperation] you will be found among the Redeemed; "everyone will know" that it was true. You will be on display for all to see along with the other redeemed, and will enter into eternity to be with Jesus.

Those who are born again by God have a new nature, are a new creation, are radically transformed; they love righteousness, so they do not continue loving and living in sin.  They instantly have no desire to sin and many things they loved before they no longer have interest in. But some sins and temptations remain and we are to battle and conquer those sins (one by one).

So no one who gets saved out of sin would continue in it [as before]. You were a slave to sin before getting saved but are now a slave to righteousness - and Jesus is your God, Lord, Savior and King. You follow Him on the righteous path. Picking up our cross daily and following Him. Following his path. Where did it go? It was a path walked in righteousness, that went up the hill to the cross. You will face various persecutions in life but you live Christ more than any troubles or suffering and will be with him in eternity. That far outweighs any temporary things we go through here (even if hard).

The ones who at some point are non obedient (but truly saved) are  disciplined by God, suffer loss here, and if they do not repent of their sins (and turn back to the righteous path) then God can cause issues in your lif or sicknesses to get their attention to get them to turn back, but at some point if they persist... he brings their death. Why would he keep a useless servant here? He will take them to eternity.  This is why we are told to keep short sin accounts. And conquer sins so they have no hold on us nor desire towards them.

To your question "If in Christianity we’re all saved why do we need to repent and live Christ like if the idea is we all make it to Heaven ...?

You have to obey the Gospel before you are "in" Christianity. You arent born into it. You have to be born again to enter it. Scripture is clear, God has been clear: "Jesus said you must be born again" to enter into heaven. To enter into a right relationship with God. To be saved. To be a Christian you have to obey the Gospel. And that includes believing rightly about the fact that Jesus paid it all in full. God has the power and ability to save completely when he does something. He always does it perfectly, fully and completely.

For you, the most important thing to get resolved right now is your salvation. Get right with God now, first, by way of obeying the Gospel command. Then you can grow in the faith from there. If you need a bit of clarity on what the Bible teaches and what you need to believe about God and Jesus before you obey the Gospel... see essentials below. Then obey the Gospel.

Do it today.

2 Corinthians 6:2 :

"For He says, ‘At an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you'. BEHOLD, NOW IS THE ACCEPTABLE TIME; BEHOLD, NOW IS THE DAY OF SALVATION."

Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Get right with God today.

God bless.
