Bible study suggestion for a cultural Christian
I'm looking for a good Bible study to do with a dear friend. She is very much a cultural christian and is in the process of filing for an unbiblical divorce. I constantly struggle with how to talk about things of The Lord with her without her shutting me out.
I would like to offer a weekly Bible study we could go through but want to pick something biblical and rich for her.
Any recommendations?
A: It sounds like she is unsaved then. (Unsaved divorce and do things their way.)
Is she open to learning about God or Christianity more? If so...
I would go through the Gospel with her first. Give here an in depth look at it and what it means for us.
This includes revealing who Jesus is (eternal God, 2nd Adam, redeemer: the one who lived the perfect life in obedience to God & the Law, died a sacrificial death to pay the sin debt for believers sins, took that eternal wrath in the cross, the justice of God served, the payment made, his death as required by the Law (substitute/propitiation), died and God having been satisfied with that payment/work raised him from the dead, defeating death, completed the work of salvation (promised in Eden). Then tell her God calls all to repent and believe the Gospel.
Then go through a fundamentals course.
Your goal is to reach her for Christ. Once saved, or has embraced the biblical Gospel & made a profession... then move to discipleship. The discipleship first steps needs to include telling her to:
* Join a biblical local biblical church
* Be obedient to God by public baptism
* Read the Bible daily & apply what she learns
* Pray daily
* Attend Sunday School & Worship weekly
And going through the above course with her for basics of the faith.
After that you can send her here and shes off on her own as the ethiopian eunich was, to go and follow Christ - living the Christian life.
