Losing Faith need FAQ Resources

Q: I feel like I’m losing my last bit of faith in God. All of my leaders are full of ego, repetition of the same things over and over. I’ve read the Bible myself twice now from cover to cover, and noticed many many things that don’t add up. Many contradictions. And last, God has let the worst of the worst happened and was not here for me time and time again. Letting me suffer. Letting me feel alone. I don’t know if there is a God at all anymore.

The contradictions that I can’t seem to find a solid answer are:

If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, why was everything changed for the New Covenant? No more sacrifices, no more eye for eye tooth for tooth? Yes I know that Jesus came and was the pure lamb who was slain.

Also, there 3 different versions of the 10 commandments. Exodus 34(really weird one), Deuteronomy 5, and Exodus 20. Speaking of 10 commandments, why is that the only law we must keep after Jesus? How many laws do we keep and say “well in the Bible it says this so we believe we can/can’t do that” yet we don’t follow MOST of the laws?

Speaking of following laws. We can never get to a place of zero sin. We will always have to deal with this flesh, think wicked and lustful thoughts, even if we correct ourselves a second after. So if “once saved always saved” is a false doctrine, is no one going to heaven? If you go out and fornicate, as a saved, God fearing Christian, then die in a car accident on the way home, is there grace for you?

Who gets grace? Who deserves it enough to go to heaven and who doesn’t make the cut and burns in hell?

And lastly, why do we follow a catholic Bible? With so many books cut out? I’m under the impression that Catholicism is a false idol worship religion, so why do we follow their Bible? What about the other books in the Dead Sea Scrolls? The book of Enoch? Who Jude quotes WORD. FOR. WORD. If Jesus brother (and probably Jesus) read the book of Enoch why don’t we????

I am coming from a place of heart brokenness. Jesus was the love of my life. I felt so close to Him. And losing my faith is one of the most traumatic things I’ve ever experienced.

First, you should be asking your Sunday School teacher, Deacons and Pastor these questions so they can help guide you in growing in the faith 🤗. You are a member at the church under their authority and shepherding. You are not all knowing nor to live the Christian life solo.

To help you with these for now briefly...

Jesus fulfilled the whole Law in our place. Jesus was the Sacrifice (so the shadows of them are no longer needed since the real one has come).

The law we keep is the Law of Christ which is the summation of the moral Law - Love God and love others. *The moral law shows the character and nature of Christ...whose nature we recieved at salvation (having out on the Lord Jesus Christ & received His righteousness). Thus we have it and can live in it and it flows out of us naturally.

Those saved go to Heaven, not those make a false profession and then live like the world. See Soil parable. If we hold to the essentials of salvation revealed in Scripture, and continue in our faith...and persevere to the end ...and if we see the fruit of salvation (as we grow in faith) we can see we are saved. Those who pretend to be Christian bcuz they like religion or morals to guide their life but have no inward conversion will eventually they show theyre false converts. It is why Scripture says examine yourself and to pick up our cross and follow Christ daily. If we are not becoming more like Christ then theres a problem. It needs to be sorted out so we are right with God. For unsaved it means getting right with God. For a believer it is part of sanctification; we war with our sin nature (and want our new righteous nature to win and control us so we dont sin).

No one deserves Grace thats why it is grace. We all deserve Hell but God has for his good reasons chose to save those in the Lambs book of Life. Those who die in their sins without Christ as their Savior will go to Hell ...as their sins are unpaid for.

We do not follow the Catholic Bible. They added books to counter the Reformers exposing their false religion and then later removed some others they no longer needed after that.

Catolicism has 0 to do with the Bible or true Christianity. God gave us the Bible.

Enoch book you are talking about is not the one talked about in the NT in the Bible.  Dead Sea Scrolls validated other manuscripts.

Exit any church where a pastor or teacher or leader has a lifestyle of pride and ego... they are not right with God and likely not saved at all. While you are not perfect and other believers are sinners too & are not perfect, with leadership they are held to a higher standard and this is an issue.

God is with his children and Jesus wont leave those who are his. God directs or allows things for many reasons in our life including reliance on Him and our growth. We are also in a fallen world so nothing will happen to you that isnt common for all humans to possibly go through.

Someone said, Earth is the only hell a believer will experience and the only heaven the unsaved will experience.

But, Church is the only place on earth that is as close to Heaven as we can get "here".

As far as Scripture...  you did not specify what contradictions or areas you had difficulty with so we cant help you with that. However I can tell you it is lack of understanding or some lie someone told you that led you to believe that.

The Bible is the Word of God. The 66 books are reliable and trustworthy, and it seems you are in need of solidifying your faith, and understanding in other areas.

This can help with these and related..
