Seeking a Biblical Church
I have been a Christian for almost two years. My wife and I were going to a Church that we felt was perfect for us at the time. We have recently felt that the doctrine being taught was false and we needed to leave. I have been following John Macarthur, Rc Sproul and a few others for some time now. My question is, how do I find a church that is preaching Reformed Christianity? I am asking because it is so very important to me that I follow the correct doctrine. All the posts I have seen in this group, are mostly what I beleive. That being said, I trust only the Word of God. But we are feeling a little lost and are really hungry for the Truth and seeking to be disciples by elders who have walked this journey for a while. Thanks
A: I would say would say finding a Reformed Baptist or close enough one, such as similar to GCC would be fine. 😀
You can search for churches below. And has info on interviewing a church before you visit & join them.
Note: There seem to be charismatic continuists in reformed circles today, so watch out for that. You do need to do a little bit of detective work these days to find a biblical church and this can help...
Also read the church statement of faith (what they believe) and also look at where the pastors and elders have studied; look up about the Seminary they went to school to see where they lean on doctrine and beliefs. It is also best if their BA or MA is in Biblical Theology. Then look at online sermons (important topics) to see what they actually teach, in advance of contacting [interviewing] the pastor(s).
