Dealing with Grey areas in our Christian life
We have studied & looked into Christian liberty, but what about navigating the grey areas?
We need to look at the principles in Scripture abd be saturated in prayer, while ensuring we follow God's will not our own.
Galatians 5:13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
1 Corinthians 6:12
“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.
1 Corinthians 10:23
“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.
1 Peter 2:16
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
James 1:25
But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing
2 Peter 2:19
They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 5:11
But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [a believer] if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler [one living sinfully]—do not even eat with such a one
Romans 8:5-8
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God
1 Corinthians 8:9
But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak [believers among you].
1 Corinthians 8:12
Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ
James 2:12
So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty
1 Corinthians 9:19
For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them
1 Corinthians 6:20
for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body
2 Peter 3:16
As he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures
Even though we are free in Christ there are still boundaries in that freedom, and we can see this not only in the clear commands and teachings but the godly principles across Scripture for proper living, mindset and behavior.
