Temporaily live with boyfriend?
Q:
Is it a sin to move in with your Christian boyfriend > if you have separate rooms? Neither of us would choose this if we had other options. I don't really have anyone else to go.
Shelters here are dangerous. I am in a small church, and it is temporary as we're both moving away for college soon.
A:
It is definitely not appropriate and is outside the will of God. Plus depending on the guy, can lead to him 1. Sexual sinful thoughts and 2. think he can slowly creeping up on you to do immoral things. No decent Christian bf would ever ask you to move in. He would respect you and never even visit your home nor ask you over to his.
I say this because it isnt a proper Christian solution. And brings about appearance of evil, and can put you both in a situation where temptation of sexual immorality enters, and then is given in to. A lot goes into finding the right person to live with for life.
God has been clear about relationships, we leave our parents to get married and start a new life. It seems like you are in a hard situation though.
I do not know if your town is small or just your church but...
Here are some ideas:
1. Put an announcement in the bulletin to seek lodging from a lady or older single woman at the church who has a spare room if you are in a situation that you cant rent somewhere.
>sign an agreement with her so she doesnt feel taken advantage of and include a future date you will move out by, which can be ammended to extend [if you are a decent person to the property and to her]. +Also do be kind to help her with a few things occasionally.
> consider asking another decent church nearby to put a similar request in the bulletin to help your search also.
2. The shelter sounds out, but there might be other options nearby, so contact the shelter and ask for resources or a website for help.
3. Ask the Pastor
A. if he knows of any services in the community can shelter you, or
B. if the church can pay for a place for you until you graduate (since church funds & special offerings should be used to help members. This would qualify).
Good thing is pretty soon you are off to college and you won't be in this situation too long.
