Suicide Help Hope

Q: I am having a hard time and considering suicide, is there any hope?

A: I am sorry to hear you are experiencing a tough time right now. I hope the below helps you.

The living God wants life for his creatures. He created us to have a relationship with him and with other humans.

Life has difficult and distressing circumstances. We live in a fallen sin stained world, and so it is understandable if we have troubles or despair sometimes, but God is with us and will lead us through it, and even find the time [going through this] actually helped strengthened our faith once we get through the situation.

1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us, "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."

In Ecclesiastes, God asks, “Why should you die before your time?” (7:17). God has grace to help us through any tough time. Our heavenly Father loves us, thinks thoughts of peace toward us, and has a plan for our existence (Jeremiah 29:11).

Jeremiah 29:11-14 tells us “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil... you will call upon me, and you will go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. And you shall seek me, and you shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, says the LORD"

We should live in gratitude and awe that the infinite God would create each of us and desire to have a personal relationship with us.

Scripture talks repeatedly about life and how we can best live it. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). He wanted to offer us the chance not only to live, but also to live more fully than we ever could on our own. We cannot live life nor go through life on our own.

Christians seek to help others work through their struggles, but we also remind & share Christ’s offer to bear their burdens (1 Peter 5:7) and transform their mind (Romans 12:2), and the Bible is our help too. There are times we need to direct people to a health professional or to a Christian Bible-based Counselor who can better help them address certian issues, which includes sharing biblical truth and giving answers of hope.

There are lots of times in Scripture(8b) that people despaired and the Bible tells us how God helped them through those times.

One was in Acts 16 of the account of Paul and Silas in the Philippian prison. After an earthquake opened the doors of the prison, the jailer despaired over what "might have" happened, so he drew his sword to kill himself, thinking that all the prisoners had escaped on his watch. But Paul cried out, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here” (Acts 16:28). Then Paul and Silas shared the gospel, and, as a result, the jailor’s whole family was "saved" and followed Christ.

As Christians, our relationship with Christ should be a witness, to those who begin thinking, that their life is not worth living. Christ transforms us to the image of his Son after salvation (Romans 8:29) and we have a blessed life worth living because God is in our lives.

Satan is an enemy who delights in instigating blame, division, and defeat (John 10:10). His only desire is to harm, destroy and kill humans. He has no good intentions towards us. God has plans for your life so don't let Satan whisper lies to you.

Scripture repeatedly tells us, God is our "refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). And Christ offers hope (Psalm 42 and Psalm 71) and the assurance of salvation,
and God is our helper while we live here. He does not leave us to fend for ourselves. He is with us this life, and we can confidently follow Him and trust Him to lead us through this life.

I hope you are beginning to understand the immense value we have in Christ, and seek the abundant life God offers.

Our gracious heavenly Father is the source and sustainer of life, and through our Christian faith we have help and hope in this life. We need to cling to those truths and put our hope and life in His hands so he can lead us through the dark valleys, through the sunshine and through the rain. He will bring us through every situation. He has our best interests at heart. We need to trust Him and rely on Him.

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation.... So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward. They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.”  1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭12‬ ‭

Psalm 95:2-3: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving, let us make a joyful noise to him with psalms.

Did you know that the Bible(1) is not only our guidebook in this life but it is actually God speaking to us? When we read it He speaks to us, he is communicating to us, and when we pray it is us communicating to him. We need to be in the Word daily so it will light our path as we walk in this world, and provide us the helps we need to persevere through any tough times.

God created, humans can have the fellowship with him, and he loves his children. He dearly cares about you.

Remember, “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).

Pray to him and seek his guidance to you in the Word, to help you day by day.

Whatever you are going through is temporary. There is hope and a future here for you. Trust God and hold Christ's hand as he leads you through this world.
