Halloween alternatives?

Halloween alternatives?

First if you are anti Halloween, it is fine to not participate in the perceived evil side of it, but do look at the things that need to be understood about holiday celebrations in general as Christians.

Q: So I had a discussion with my grandma today about me and my kids doing fall activities for the big family camping trip over Halloween. I said we won't be participating in the dress up or trick or treating but can do fall activities to give them a good time (ie bobbing for apples, painting with leaves, etc). I said Im not telling "them" not to do Halloween just that Im not participating and neither are my kids. We want to spend time with family but just not doing the Halloween part. She said well your aunt is the most Christian person I know and her and her kids do Halloween and the other holidays and you used to love Halloween and stuff. Im like yeah I know I used to. I also used to be an atheist and participated in the evil side of it, doing that wasnt the right thing. She then got huffy and upset with me. How do I take that? I get ganged up on about this stuff and I dont want to hurt feelings but I feel very convicted about this. I just want to find a way to not participate and keep everyone happy. I thought about planning a separate camping trip elsewhere that weekend for just me, my kids and the hubby and just doing our own thing but idk if thats wrong to do. Please send help lol. Advice?

A: I am pro evangelism on Halloween.

I do not participate in the wicked side of it which catholics will say is to dress up to scare demons on all hallows eve [superstition nonsense]. *Demons are everywhere on earth, today isnt the only day theyre around.🙄🙃

But it is also Reformation Day, and many Christians do not even know this 🙃. And it is also Harvest season so it can be a time of thanksgiving celebration to thank God for the Harvest. Every day is God's Day and anything we assume is wrong - might be somethung looked at wrongly in fear. Every day belongs to God, what are you doing to glorify Him that day and reach the lost? Use/redeem that day for Christ.

We have to look at it as a whole. It's good to get educated and see this from another perspective.

Why not allow your family to dress up as Reformers and Pilgrams who loved God and lived for Christ. You can go to a church that is doing a Reformation party. You can go ahead with your camping trip this year and certainly do the apple bobbing and other things because it is also Harvest festival season, focus on thankfulness to God. Thankfulness is not just for Thanksgiving! But since Oct 31 is Reformation Day, teach your kids about it and general point about Luther's 95 thesis nailed to the door; and how the Reformers restored Christianity to be biblical. Halloween, Oct 31st, is the same day it happened. And is why many many Christian churches celebrate Reformation day with a Faith based or Reformation Party at church.

After reviewing & considering the noted info here, you can figure out how your family will participate. 😊

Use the day for God and caring about the salvation of your neighbors. We don't need to run and hide. We are to be a light in the darkness.

I pray God will guide you into more maturity in the Christian Faith after going through this.

God bless
