Desiring Rebaptism

Q: I was baptized when I was a child and have recently been thinking of getting re-baptized, because I don’t remember it. And, I’ve been through a lot spiritually since then. Is that something one can do? I am not sure how that all works, and am not currently apart of a church. Advice appreciated.
A: First to clarify, Baptism doesnt save. Also there are many in churches today who come to Jesus for wrong reasons or embrace a false Gospel. Ensure you are saved by going through the bottom resource below.
As to rebaptizing, If you were not raised in a Protestant church denomination that teaches believers Baptism, but came from a different faith, sect or cult- then yes you need to be baptized once you are born again by God through obeying the Gospel.
If you were in Protestant church, made a profession but then walked away from the church/faith once puberty hit or after high school graduation (to go live in sin), then you had a false profession, so yes you need to be baptized if you are now born again. Its out first act of obedience towards God and a commanded ordinance.
I suggest you find a Bible focused church, talk to the pastor and become a member; get baptized there. Christians are members of God's family and their new life is tied to local congregation of believers. It is our home, and they are our brothers & sisters in Christ with whom we will spend eternity with. Earth is the preparations ground for eternity.
There's no reason to get rebaptized if you were really saved back then. If not sure you were saved, then sure do it. But first make sure you really are actually saved.
Then speak w your pastor and explain that you would like to be baptize "to give testimony to your faith", then he might see that reasoning and allow it. If you do though, i would make a big deal about it so it is a opp for you to invite all your family, friends, coworkers and others you know, to the church for that event. It is a public testimony to the fact that you already are born again. It should include a verbal testimony, and gives the listeners an opp to hear in 3 min. how you got saved, briefly what the gospel is, and how your life has changed. From the baptismal pool before you are baptized. And make sure to have a potluck afterwards for the guests, and hand out tracts.
The best part is, that event preaches the gospel to them all, at the same time. And if you already were baptized and this advice doesnt apply to you, you can do similarly the same thing with a born again birthday party, minus the baptism part. 😀
