If someone needed your tithe money for transport to the hospital...
If a poor man as neighbor or church member needed urgent ambulance with life care to get to the hospital and you were on your way to give that money as an offering to the church would you help him or take that money to church for the tithe?
A: Most poor people have govt assistance to where they pay 0 for the ambulance and little to no costs for hospital bills.
But let's say he made too much to qualify and barely enough to survive, or lived in another country than USA.
It is a no brainer. You give it to the person. Or to the hospital on his behalf.
I just saw a sermon about a related same kind of topic. The Pharasiees would rather someone die on the Sabbath then help them out of a pit but if it was their animal they would fetch it out. And they picked on Jesus and the Apostles gleaning wheat it on Sabbath to eat food and were told it wasnt lawful on the Sabbath. But Jesus said how David ate the Holy Bread in the Tabernacle on the Sabbath and that was not typically ever done either. So the point is you dont let a famished person die to uphold traditions or customs, you save the life.
Love one another, sacrifice to help.
NT believers even sold all they owned and property to help the poor among them.
God desires that we do what is right and in this case helping others is right. We are not legalists.
If you have other money and can go to the bank to provide a "cheerful giving" for the offering to God then do so. If not, thank God you were in the right place at the right time and he provided you with that money to help someone in need. Especially if it is a believer or someone you have been ministering to.
And use it as a testimony and opportunity to share the gospel later when appropriate time arrises, and in ministering to the man after he recovers.
