Birthdays?

So tomorrow is my birthday. I don’t celebrate any pagan holidays or birthdays. But I do tell others happy birthday who do celebrate.

As a Christian, do you think this is wise to say happy birthday or to celebrate that day?

A:  There is a big misconception about things that are percieved as carnal or things that are secular as if there is a division between sacred and secular, but there's no such thing in the Christian life. Our whole life in Christ 247 365 is of glorifying God and worshipping Him.

There is nothing wrong with birthdays. It glorifies God by celebrating your life which He created. There is nothing wrong with others loving you and blessing you because it is a gift from God. You can also do the same thing on your born again birthday and use it as a day to share the gospel with everyone you know.

A birthday celebration can be used for thanking God for another year of life, no matter the ups and downs, and celebrating the strength He gave you to get through the trials you went through and sins you've conqured. As a way to reflect on how much you’ve changed, matured, and stayed steady in your Christian walk.

Lots of people give generously for birthdays with no expectation of return and that’s something God calls on us to do (give generously) I think birthdays can be a beautiful occasion to do that, glorify God, and point to Him.

I am not sure what holidays you are referring to as pagan, but theres a lot of misinformation out there about that and this will help bring clarity on that.

God bless
